Dreaming of Food?!

Anyone else experiencing this? Lately I've been getting bizarre dreams. Like, last night I vividly remember being at a potluck and just going crazy on the mac and cheese. It's so odd. I've been on Mounjaro for close to two years, shed about 200 pounds, and I'm like 15 lbs shy of my target weight. During waking hours, I'm totally fine. I did just start a course of antibiotics, and I'm wondering if that could be related to my sleep patterns, or if others have had similar experiences on GLP-1s.

OMG I dreamt I desperately wanted a chocolate milkshake…but all that was available was a glass with a sad wilted blueberry in it!

Dude, ALL the time! I dream about demolishing all the forbidden foods.

Last night for the first time I was at a buffet in my sleep and actually passed on a bunch of high-carb stuff. I was about to get a plate of some delicious tuna rolls when my wife shook me awake, lol.

I'm taking it as a good sign that even my sleeping brain is onboard with the diet now. Took long enough, I've been at this weight loss thing for almost 2 years myself.

I've been having some pretty strange, intense dreams ever since beginning Mounjaro. I'm not sure if it's the medication itself, or maybe it's because I'm sleeping better now that my sleep apnea is basically gone.

I never used to have those crazy food dreams until recently. A few nights ago, I dreamt I was gorging on baked potatoes.

I have those sometimes too! I usually try tweaking my diet to see if it chills out my subconscious desires. Usually I'll up my protein or healthy fats. Do you ever dream of foods other than carbs? If it's always carbs, you might want to have your magnesium levels checked.

it's not uncommon for antibiotics to disrupt sleep. They can mess with your gut microbiome, which in turn can affect neurotransmitter production and sleep quality.

I've also felt super tired since starting. Could it be from not eating enough maybe?
Absolutely! Fatigue is a pretty common side effect when you first start because you're probably eating less or not getting enough hydration. Low intake combined with blood sugar fluctuations can definitely make you feel sleepy. I track my protein and water intake in my weight loss app to make sure I'm not accidentally undereating.

If you're feeling really fatigued, it might be a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider about it. They can run some tests to rule out any underlying issues. Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep! I know, easier said than done, but it makes a huge difference.

Vivid food dreaming is one of the more consistent early-phase reports - the appetite system recalibrates while awake but during sleep the food focus that lost its daytime outlet surfaces instead. Usually fades by weeks 4-8 as the new baseline settles. The foraging interest tends to survive the GLP-1 shift because it's functional relationship with food rather than reward-driven.
