Finally did it! My first dose!

Just had to tell someone! I'm a loner and bury myself in work, so I don't have many people I trust. But tonight, I finally took the plunge and injected myself. I've been so afraid of needles, and I've read about some nasty side effects, which ramped up my anxiety. I kept putting it off, saying 'tomorrow, for sure'. I kept finding reasons to delay. But just 20 minutes ago, I did it! My first 0.25mg shot. I'm a bit dizzy, so I'm relaxing in bed, eating a little something sweet and hydrating. But I'm proud of myself for pushing through. Thanks for listening, everyone. Hope you have a good one.

Congrats! You've got this! It took me nearly half a week to even open the box and prep for the injection. I'm terrified of needles, and I never thought I'd be giving myself a shot in the bathroom. I felt on edge all day, but nothing bad happened. No bad reactions, and it seemed to work quickly. My hunger came back around day 4 or 5, but my good experience kept me motivated for my second dose yesterday. The biggest thing I noticed the first few days was that this must be how 'normal' people feel. The constant food thoughts were gone, other than just noticing they weren't there. I'd eat a small portion and feel full, without wanting more just because it was there. I felt like I could make rational decisions about food, a feeling I've never had before. I'm so happy I did this. Keep sharing your experiences!

I originally started on Mounjaro, but switched to Ozempic when I couldn't find any. I've dropped almost 100 pounds since last autumn. It's been incredible! Stay consistent, and you'll be amazed by the results.

It's so inspiring to read this! I've been avoiding my first dose for the same reasons – needle phobia and worries about side effects. This is giving me the courage to take the plunge this weekend.

To be honest, when I got my first injection at the doctor's, I was so scared, but I didn't even feel it. It felt like my appetite vanished right after the shot – I know that's not really possible, but it felt that way. I started in August of 2022 for type 2 diabetes. Since then, I've lost about 70 pounds. I'm at the highest dose my insurance covers, which is 1mg, but I want to lose a little more, so I'm paying out of pocket for an extra 0.5mg per shot. It's about $300 for 8 doses of 1.5mg.

Congrats! I only feel comfortable talking to people in this group, since im not sure if i can tell my friends that I'm on this med. I also hate needles, so I set a timer on my phone. I set it for 30 seconds, inject at 13 seconds, and it stops injecting around 5 seconds, then I close my eyes. Also, I don't look at the needle.

I gave myself my first dose last Wednesday, so today's my second. I've been dealing with pretty constant nausea. Does it stay the same on the second dose, or does it get worse? I'm a little worried because I'm flying across the country tomorrow! It seems to be working tho, down 8lbs in a week!

To anyone just starting out and feeling nervous, like @Sage_1977 and @MaintenanceMode, remember that time will pass regardless. If you're thinking about it, just believe in yourself and take the plunge. You deserve to feel better! And for those of us who've been on this journey for a while, let's keep cheering each other on!

Way to go! Getting past that first injection is the biggest hurdle.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! It really does help to know I'm not alone. I actually feel a bit better now, the lightheadedness is fading. Maybe it was just nerves. I'm going to try and get some sleep. Night!

I saw this posted in another group, and it really resonated with me: "be present for the process and enjoy it as much as i can ✨🩵🫶🏿" We get so caught up in the destination that we forget to appreciate the journey. Even the tough days are a part of it!

You're so right, @ByeByeBelly73! It's easy to get discouraged when the scale doesn't move as quickly as we'd like, but it's important to remember how far we've come + celebrate those non-scale victories!

Had almost the exact same reaction. Woke up dizzy, had to sit down or everything spun. It kept coming and going for most of the day. Would definitely space my next dose for a day off.
