Finally Starting Tirzepatide!

So, after a couple of hold-ups, I'm planning to kick off my first week of tirzepatide tomorrow. Had it all lined up a few weeks back, then BAM, stomach bug followed by the 'vid. Talk about a setback! I'm a guy, carrying around an extra 75-125 pounds. Seriously hoping this med can be the key to unlocking weight loss and better health.

I'm really eager to get started and, for once, ditch this whole yo-yo dieting thing where I gain and lose the same 30-50 pounds over and over. It's been a struggle for what feels like forever. I'm grateful for all the support I've found here and hope to pay it forward someday.

I'll be sure to keep you all in the loop as I progress!

Tirz is awesome. I'm a 60-year-old male, 6'0". Started at 201 lbs and dropped to 171 lbs in 3 months on just 2.5mg of tirzepatide. Eventually, the weight loss slowed, but that's just because I didn't have much excess fat left to lose. It was amazing. Week 2 hit me with major constipation, followed by a day of major 💩 problems. After that initial rough patch, the weight just melted off. Keep something on hand that gets things moving if you feel backed up.

I've switched over to retatrutide to see if the glucagon helps me get below 15% body fat. It seems to give me more energy, but the appetite suppression isn't as strong. I know the glucagon is working hard though.

I know someone who's had great success with tirzepatide, so it was kind of the first one I looked at. I've also heard some people say that reta didn't suppress their appetite as much as Tirz did. Maybe I'll give Reta a try down the road.

I went with tirzepatide for similar reasons. A close friend with a medical background (RN) suggested it provided better control over food cravings. She had fantastic results, so I took her advice. So far, the results have been excellent for me. Best of luck as you start the process.

Hey Sage_1977, good luck on your journey! I'm starting Ozempic this Sunday for my type 2 diabetes. I'm a 5'8" guy, weighing around 250 pounds here in Canada. My benefits approved it, starting with 0.25-0.5mg pens, then up to 1mg pens. What can I expect eating-wise in the first few weeks? Will my meals be like, half the size? I know I shouldn't overeat. Any tips?

Hey everyone! I just started on semaglutide a little over a month ago. I'm nervous about posting this, but seeing how supportive everyone is has been so encouraging! I've already seen amazing changes.

For me, my portions ended up being about half of what I normally ate. Really listen to your body and stop when you feel full. It's more of a mental adjustment than I thought. If your brain says "I'm pretty full, but there's only a couple bites left..." just stop eating!

I started about 5 weeks ago. I was increasing my dose every couple of weeks. Last night I was dealing with the most painful combo of constipation AND diarrhea... I threw up. Force yourself to drink a ton of water so you don’t get constipated. Everyone has different side effects but that one SUCKS. For the most part I’ve been fine. A little nausea the first 24 hours after the shot, and twice in 5 weeks I’ve had major cramping and pain.

That's awesome to hear Shrinking_Suzi! It's encouraging to know others are experiencing positive changes too.

64 pounds in seven months with consistent training is the combination that produces results like this - the medication handles the intake side and workouts protect muscle during the loss phase.

No interest in food as the main side effect at that dose is the mechanism working as intended. Getting through the week with that as the only issue is a good sign. How are you feeling about the first week overall?

the travel timing makes it interesting to track what's actually tirz and what's the environment. camp food at that cadence is going to look different from home eating anyway. three square meals with rice and protein is actually not a bad setup for the adjustment period. how's appetite comparing day 5 to day 1?

Running 6mg Tirz every five days for upkeep right now. Weight's been holding within a couple pounds either way for six weeks straight.

Was previously at 15mg Tirz weekly, bounced around a bit with timing and amount along the way.

Down 63 pounds, no longer needing separate medication for type 2 diabetes or blood pressure.

(not chasing further loss at this point...)

Feeling great!

Honestly think it's going to stay experimental figuring out what clicks for each person, way too many moving parts involved.
Maybe down the road we'll actually get proper clinical trials and real guidelines.

For right now it feels like everybody's just building their own approach.

Your results may differ.

Stay safe :)

Wrapping up with one final check-in before switching over to Tirzepatide.

Down to 99.0 lbs now! Bumped my Reta up to 2.5mg a few days ago and the number keeps dropping fast!!

Can hardly wait!! Starting to combine Tirz and reta together tomorrow.

Genuinely excited to see how this goes!

Aiming for 85lbs eventually!

Ran Wegovy across four or five weeks, no luck for me. Actually gained 2 pounds on it. Couldn't figure out how it was even supposed to function. Cost a fortune too, insurance being useless as usual.

Skip ahead about a year, a relative's running Tirz with great results. Kept scrolling past this massive thread on a firearms forum covering peptides for uses beyond just weight loss. Got pulled in from there, had a couple close calls dialing in amounts, eventually found this community, calculators online, all sorts of resources.

Genuinely been a wild ride! Clearly somewhere on the spectrum myself, every few years there's a fresh obsession I dive headfirst into, OCD-style. Never expected this to be the one!

Thanks all for the stories and tips, I read every one :) I've decided to try it. I already have the prescription and start next week. Alcohol is going completely, and I'm aiming for plenty of protein, fibre and water alongside strength training. On calories I've rethought it: pushing myself towards 1,800 to 1,900 kcal is off the table, and I believe about 1,500 kcal will keep me in a deficit, though the results will tell. My doctor added that with roughly 3-5 kg gone in month one, we'd remain on the smallest dose instead of increasing. Hopefully I'll have good news to share before long.

I paid for 3 months of compounded tirz to begin, and that gave me the confidence to start this. You have hit the main things to watch on tirz. I lost faster than recommended and lost some muscle along the way. I began exercising alongside starting the meds, though it was not enough to offset it, so now I focus on resistance training rather than only cardio. Getting enough protein in a deficit is hard too. Eating that much protein naturally was impossible for me, so I added whey and other powders. Im still short of the 1 gram per target pound, but I also lift far less than the 3-5 sessions weekly some people do. Over the last few months I feel I found a decent balance. Goal weight is done (my spare tire barely noticed) and I keep working on strength.
