First 20 pounds down in three months and finally under a number I thought was gone for good

Started this medication April 3rd, and here we are, July 7th, finally past the first 20 pounds. Starting weight before sema was 187 a year postpartum, sema starting weight was 169, and now sitting at 149. Before this, the mid 150s were basically a trap, weeks or months of stalling or even gaining there. Finally under 150, something that felt permanently out of reach. Next target is another 20 down, then reassessing whether to keep going or stay put. For scale, standing 4'11 female, so the 130s sound tiny but still counts as overweight technically. Just a single pound now separates overweight from technically obese, funny enough. Weird thing to get excited about, but here we are. Probably would lose it completely if normal weight ever became the actual label, haven't seen that range since grade school. Feeling hopeful though, like this might finally be within reach. For now, enjoying the 140s. See everyone again in the 130s.

Grew up overweight as a kid, first put on a diet at age six. Bounced through losing and regaining pounds for decades but never got under 170lbs and always landed heavier than where I'd started.

Thanks to the second compound I completely blew through that supposed plateau ceiling within months and I'm now down more than 130lbs, over half my starting weight, holding steady around 108-110lbs. My current number is lighter than what the scale showed back in grade school. This medication completely dismantles the idea that everyone has some fixed weight they can't move past. Hold a calorie deficit and the number on the scale just keeps falling, that simple, the physics doesn't change person to person. We've all leaned on the same excuses to abandon our diets and slide back into overeating the second progress stalls. This medication hands us the chance to push through that wall if we actually take it and run with it.

So thrilled I stumbled onto this community. Check in on threads daily now (deleted both Instagram and Facebook), peptides have basically become my new hobby.

Finally hit the target I set for myself! Turning 30 soon, currently 29. Been lifting since 16 chasing visible abs. Occasionally got lean enough, but mostly carried a stomach and stayed self-conscious taking my shirt off anywhere public. Never technically obese, but for someone training hard for years, my hunger never let up. Needed food roughly every three hours. Food and body shape occupied my head constantly. Sweet tooth, big into home-brewed beer too. Went through a stretch on medication that packed on serious weight. So this week, catching a glimpse of actual definition in a hotel bathroom mirror while traveling, I decided cutting was finally over. Shifting into maintenance now. That teenage goal, finally reached.

That first photo, 225 pounds, is from about two and a half years back. Working at a small brewery at the time. Cut out drinking entirely and switched to whole foods. Dropped roughly 30 pounds, then held steady a good while. By 2025 I was around 200 and tried a meat-heavy approach along with calorie tracking. Got seriously lean, close to 180, then stopped and hunger hit harder than ever. Regained everything almost instantly

Adding my story here in case it's useful to someone deciding whether to try a GLP1, or who sees pieces of themselves in what follows. I was 180 pounds with an A1C sitting at 6.8 - diabetic, whether I wanted to admit that or not. All the extra weight sat around my middle. Cholesterol wasn't great, fatty liver too. The only thing doctors had ever put me on was birth control pills my entire life. Once blood pressure became an issue, those got taken away, and that's when PCOS symptoms really started ramping up. Ran sema for a year, then tirz for a year, lost 35 pounds total. Had to pause tirz after it made me throw up weekly for five straight weeks, and with a hysterectomy coming up I stopped it entirely for three months. Regained about 15 during that break pretty fast. Just began reta this past week at a 2mg starting dose, already down about 4 pounds and getting some of that fullness and reduced hunger back. Been getting bloodwork done roughly every six months and the improvements have been incredible to watch - A1C down to 5.5, ALT still a bit high but better, cholesterol overall improved, blood pressure's been solid. Don't have to think about periods anymore either, but

Tried absolutely everything before this. Dropped 20 pounds on Weight Watchers. Shed 75 doing keto alongside marathon training. Lost 70 through a hospital-run weight management program (45 the second time around). Dropped 30 on ephedra. Lost 20 more with habit-tracking apps. Every single time, life would eventually break whatever routine I'd built and I'd regain it all plus extra. Longest stretch I ever actually held a loss steady ran maybe two or three months. Beyond that, my mental health moved in the exact opposite direction of my weight, the heavier the number climbed, the deeper the depression got.

Until tirzepatide changed everything. Ninety pounds gone since starting, and I've held that within a five-pound window for over a year now. Never planning to stop some form of GLP long-term, because even though I'm technically skinny-fat now, that mental static around eating has finally gone silent, I can grab clothes straight off any rack that actually fit, my prediabetes cleared up, and my labs look great overall.

A year back I was content with where my body sat, skinny-fat included. Feeling a bit different these days though, like I've reached a headspace where chasing some modest recomposition goals and tackling that leftover skinny-fat situation actually feels realistic
