First month on Zepbound - my thoughts

Hey everyone, wanted to give a rundown of my first month using Zepbound, since reading threads here really helped me get started. I'm a 34 year old guy, about 5'5", and I started at 248 pounds. After a month, I'm down to 229, so about 19 pounds down. I'm on 2.5 mg currently, and haven't bumped up the dose yet. I know that's pretty good for the first month, but I'm also making some changes to how I live and I'm working with some medical professionals. I've been seeing an endocrinologist and a nutritionist which is super helpful.

Besides losing pounds, I also have lost inches. My waist went from around 39.4 inches to 38.2, my gut from 42.1 inches to 40.9, hips went from 51.2 to 49.6, and my thighs shrank as well. I lift weights like five days a week. I'd been going to the gym off and on for over a year, but now I'm much more consistent. Most of my workouts are focused on building strength, a lot of lower body, some walking but not a lot of cardio.

Food-wise I’m keeping it simple and focusing on protein. On a typical day I’ll have eggs, ricotta, or yogurt early in the day, a big salad with some lean protein for lunch, and something like a burger I made myself with some lean beef plus lots of veggies for dinner. I kind of track calories, around 1800, and I try to prioritize protein. The biggest change is not constantly thinking about food. Some days I have to remind myself to eat enough protein. A few things that helped me: hydration, fiber, and simple meals. Everyone is different, but for me the biggest change isn’t just the weight: it’s just how much easier it is to eat right when food isn’t constantly on my mind. What were your experiences in the first month?

I know everyone says to "be realistic" and all that, but man, can we at least give @Lee1987 some props?! Lifestyle changes are what got you here, Zepbound or not! Keep up the awesome work, I'm cheering for ya!

Hey everyone, it's important to keep expectations in check. Results can vary. 2.5mg isn't really meant to do much on its own, and it takes time to build up in your system. The first weight you lose is usually water from inflammation. Some people have a lot of inflammation and will seem to lose weight quickly, others may not have as much inflammation.

I was so happy when I stopped constantly thinking about food and didn't want junk anymore! That’s what this medication is all about for me. No more mental battles.

I’ve been on 2.5mg for nine weeks and my appetite is still suppressed, and the food noise is barely there. I'm doing pretty well.

I've also been working out more often. I’m losing around a pound to a pound and a half each week, but like I said, the most important thing to me is how my appetite and cravings are handled. I still get hunger cues, and near the end of the week I get "hungrier," but I'm learning to tell the difference between real hunger and just wanting to eat.

Just a reminder as mentioned in the comments: a lot of the weight you lose in the first few weeks is water weight and reduced inflammation instead of pure fat. Keep that in mind as you read my experience, and remember to get real medical advice.

Congrats! I'm happy it's working for you, and that you're improving your health. Keep it up, and I hope this weight loss is a real positive for you!

Awesome! You're right that it's a strong response, but it sounds like you're making good choices and you just might be one of those people who respond really well. Happy for you!

I also finished month one. I lost about seven pounds, but I haven't included exercise like you have yet. But food-wise, we're making similar choices. I'm moving up to 5.0mg tonight and hoping the results continue!

I’m on 5mg and have been on Mounjaro for around four and a half months. I’ve lost around 42 pounds, with the biggest drop at the start, which I think was mostly inflammation. I work out with weights every day and sometimes add a walk or Pilates. I wish I'd measured myself because I think that's a better way to track loss. My clothes look and feel great!! I used to hate cardio and exercise because I thought that's what I always had to do. Not true!! Weightlifting has changed my life. I watch free workout videos on YouTube. Mounjaro has silenced the food noise. I agree with you about having more time because we aren't obsessing about food 24/7. Wishing you continued success!

I have been on 3.5mg since week 5 - now 20 weeks in. I am consistently losing around 2 pounds a week – depending on how constipated I am. I'm really happy a smaller dose works for me since it's cheaper and the side effects aren't as bad.

Sounds like you're doing great!

I just had my third shot a few days ago and I'm also having a strong response to 2.5mg. The first two weeks I actually had increased food noise but lots of nausea. My cravings and hunger were suppressed, but I couldn't stop thinking about food.

The food noise FINALLY quieted down yesterday so I’m really happy.

Congrats on losing weight. I am in my third week on 2.5 and starting to feel that my food noise is going away. It was still there the first two weeks. Appetite suppression was not strong either. I am losing 2-3 pounds per week and I think the first 10-15 pounds will be water weight plus some muscle loss. I've lost some muscle even though I lift weights three times a week. Hoping for the best.

Don't forget to rotate where you inject! One person mentioned they go top center of the stomach, a little to the left, center left, and so on. I was stalled for a couple weeks but then went from the normal dosage down to a little less. Got back on track that way. Doing great!

It's all about the lifestyle changes! Someone else was saying that the weight can come back if you stop taking the medicine, so it's important to keep up with healthy habits.

Thanks for the advice, it's useful. I'll finish month one and reassess. Sounds like the general consensus is don't jump doses if the current one is helping.
