I used to be so focused on the scale, thinking if I just got to a certain weight, *then* I'd be happy. Turns out, the real problem was the constant mental battle with food. I thought if I just tracked every morsel, restricted myself more, had more willpower, everything would click. Hello, calorie counting apps. Goodbye, sanity.

What I didn't expect was the mental toll. Food became this overwhelming, all-consuming thing. I'd wake up stressing about the 'right' and 'wrong' choices, terrified of a single cheat meal derailing all my efforts. It was like food was stuck on repeat in my brain, even when I wasn't hungry. I thought it was a personal failing.

But the real change happened when I stopped viewing food as the enemy. I ditched the rigid rules and plans and started listening to my body. No miracle weight loss at first. However, something else shifted. The constant food chatter quieted down. Not gone completely, but manageable. And for the first time, I wasn't at war with my own body.

Has anyone else experienced this? That moment when food stopped being a psychological cage match? Because for me, that's been more significant than any pounds I've shed.

I'm starting to think of food cravings like a chronic condition, with a biological basis, just like chronic pain or depression. Now that the meds are helping my system work more like someone who's naturally slim, I'm actually losing weight. It's not about being weak or lacking willpower.

It's so nice not to have to obsess over every bite. Especially when all that effort wasn't even producing great results!
 
So true, @Food-IMO. I'm in my second week, and after the second shot, everything's changed. Like, minimal appetite. Ate half a pizza one day and a tiny bit of chicken the next, but I was worried the whole time the meds weren't working since I didn't feel like eating. Is that normal?
 
You are def not alone, @HungryHippoNoMore. That 'something in your head' you are feeling is the food noise. It takes time to quiet down for some people. For me, it was a couple of weeks. The appetite change is totally normal.
 
I totally get it, @HungryHippoNoMore. Even when the physical hunger fades, there's that lingering *mental* hunger. Like, I know I'm not actually hungry, but my brain still wants something. It's like I'm learning to distinguish between true hunger and just old habits.

I can definitely relate to this. It's like a huge mental burden is lifted. Before, my thoughts were constantly consumed by meal planning, calorie counting, and resisting cravings. Now, that mental space is freed up for other things. It's a very liberating experience.
 
Yeah mid December was good at 5, now at 12 and appetite control dropped sharply. Troubleshooting it so I quit the tessa and IPA five days back. Started those mid December when the shift happened, seeing if that's the cause.

Inspired me to finally post. Sober since Oct 2011, active recovery. Quieted food obsession last 5 years through steps. Your honesty meant a lot this week. Hope you find peace and remember you're wanted.
 
I just can't do breakfast. At 0.5mg I lose all appetite - no food noise, barely hungry. I can eat fine later but mornings? Just nauseous thinking about food. School schedule means I sometimes eat lunch at 1 or 2 PM. Need high-protein snacks I can prep and bring.
 
congrats that's awesome! quick q — were you exercising? how much? just started mounjaro 2.5 and doing the one meal fasting thing like you. feel a bit under-eating but no hunger. working out 4-5 days now to match your pace. thanks for sharing.
 
Curious what you're eating because I'm 1.5 years in at 1.25 and zero side effects like that. I keep meals super consistent—protein shake, yogurt, bagel, chicken or fish with veggies for dinner. Only had extreme diarrhea once the whole time.
 
pre-tirz, traveling freaked me out if food wasn't guaranteed. worried about low bs and getting hangry. now? blood sugar's stable and i'm chill—eat when it comes up. removes so much anxiety about my next meal.
 
broccoli gave me sulfur burps the whole time. love it but frustrating. have antacids on hand. beano before cruciferous veggies or those burps will haunt you.
 
I feel terrible for who I was - so eager to drop pounds it took over my whole life for thirty years. Tried everything - every trend diet, every pill they handed out back when most were basically speed. Now I have real freedom with eating and feel genuinely at peace. This medication genuinely changes lives.
