Food noise still loud?

My person has been taking tirz for 14 months, now at the highest dose and just keeping things steady. Still needs to drop more pounds but is dealing with strong desires for food and that constant thinking about food, even at 15 mg of tirz. They say that they get full quicker than before starting tirz, but that doesn't seem as effective now.

What do you all suggest to deal with the cravings and food noise?

I'd advise keeping a really close record of what your person is eating. It might shock them like it did my person how switching carbs for protein really quiets the noise.

Now, if I could just stop drinking bourbon all the time....

I'm with @FitRoad that protein makes you feel full when you're actually hungry. A protein drink or a meal packed with protein should handle actual hunger.

Dealing with food noise and wanting to eat is a bonus for some, but not the main goal of this medication. You can totally gain weight even after a gastric bypass and you can still eat a lot even while on these meds. Maybe your person should try to find a hobby to keep them busy. For me, reading the forums and reminding myself I'm taking my meds helps. Plus, my cat sits on me all day, so bothering her makes me feel guilty if I grab a snack out of boredom. 😾

I'm just keeping things as they are. I was taking 7.5mg tirz but the food noise and cravings were getting really bad, and I suddenly had bad anxiety. I haven't been officially told I have it but I think I have Binge Eating Disorder, which I've dealt with since I was a teen. I took a month off (gained 13lbs 😳) and then slowly started back on tirz, adding small amounts of sema weekly. Now things are steady. I'm taking 5mg of tirz and 1 mg of sema. It's working great.

What I'd suggest is to micro dose sema with a 3 day gap from the tirz shot. Start with the tiniest amount, just like they've never taken a glp1 before. Stop increasing the amount once the food noise is under control.

Thanks for the idea @Avery08. I will research microdosing sema and bring it up with my subject's doctor. It worries me a bit to add another medication, but if the food noise is lessened, it would be worth it.

I've only been on Ozempic for 3 weeks, at the starting dose. I see people say the food noise disappeared after their first dose. But I still have the food noise. I've had side effects but haven't seen much difference. Am I expecting too much, too soon?

It takes a while to build up in your system. Everyone's different so don't feel discouraged!

I appreciate everyone's advice. I'm going to track food intake more carefully and see if we can increase protein. I will also raise the possibility of adding a small amount of semaglutide with the doctor. Any other ideas are welcome!

No way could I handle 12mg. Still on my current dose after 4 months and basically don't think about food anymore. Random nausea waves still show up sometimes though.

Weighed in this morning at 212, which is 7 pounds lower than before. Had some appetite kicks early in the week but stayed the course, and that week gave me my biggest drop. Planning to move from 0.5 to 1 later tonight, but honestly questioning whether to stay put since the lower amount is clearly still effective. Thoughts on whether bumping it up makes sense?

Lol 12mg would just destroy me. I'm at 3mg after 4 months and honestly have basically zero appetite. Still get those random nausea waves now and then which is annoying but manageable.

Same thing happened to me on semaglutide - took the edge off hunger but the constant thinking about food just wouldn't stop. Made the switch to tirzepatide and it actually killed that craving noise. Still gotta work through the emotional side of eating, but that's way more doable when you're not fighting hunger signals all day.

I'm stuck in this spot where I'm not hungry but my brain hasn't caught up yet. I'll eat a bit, feel stuffed right away. Drinking water doesn't quiet the urge to snack, even though I know I'm full.

Yeah it's wild. This has been so much better for me than the other stuff I tried last fall. I think you nailed it with 'loss of hunger'—it's different from just quieting the noise. I literally haven't been hungry since I started, but I'm still eating to hit my goals. Not eating because my body's screaming for food, just eating because it makes sense.

they did research based on reddit posts where people come to complain? course results are skewed. also, who's doctor isn't telling them to eat healthier on a drug that kills cravings? people probably just didn't listen. eat less but eat crap, obviously nutritional gaps. was first thing i was told at my appointment.
