From A1c 9.8 to 5.2! What a year!

I went from full-blown diabetic to pre-diabetic then completely normal in just under a year! And I went down 6 sizes! I really regret spending my 20s and 30s so heavy, sick, and miserable.

This medication has changed everything. I'm about to turn 39 in a few months, and I'm excited to finally feel like myself again before my 40s! I never thought it would be possible.

Load up on protein! Take that collagen! Drink plenty of water! Prioritize sleep! Lift some iron! I dropped 65 lbs in 11 months. It can happen for you too!

I do wanna mention that I had adjustment issues whenever my dosage went up. Several days of feeling sick, and I'd throw up. But it was worth it considering the progress I was showing. But now that I've been steady on 10mg for a few months, I'm doing great, so long as I stay away from certain foods. TBH, I don't even want the bad stuff anymore.

Our journeys are pretty similar! I'm also 39, and I started late March around 9 months ago. I just hit 185lbs, down from 241.

You look AMAZING !! Our stories are a lot alike. Started at 250 lbs, now I'm at 194. And that A1c drop is fantastic. Mine went from 7 to 5.4. I'm aiming for 160 !!!

Fantastic progress! I'm so happy for you! I UNDERSTAND how much shedding the weight has improved your life! I, too, wish I hadn’t spent so many years avoiding cameras, and avoiding events because I was embarrassed about being overweight.

I couldn’t lose weight no matter how much I exercised or how carefully I ate. I have SO MUCH ENERGY now, and enjoy getting dressed and going out!

Even picking out SWIMSUITS is fun! (Hubby and I swim 5x weekly. I’ve been swimming laps for YEARS, doing water aerobics, etc but none of it helped. But I kept doing it because it felt good to move my body.) I tried on a couple new swimsuits yesterday because my other ones were too big. I keep having to buy smaller swimsuits, and I'm not complaining! They looked amazing! What is this sorcery?!? One hot pink one was a little TOO revealing- showed way too much cleavage for public. Hubby's eyes almost popped out, lol! I’ll return that one b/c I don’t want the attention at the pool, but it felt wonderful to slip into a size SMALL swimsuit. It was freaking awesome that it fit me AND that my 67 year old body looked GOOD in it!

Here’s to more good times and better health. I wish you all the best!

I love how people on these meds are seeing HUGE improvements in their cholesterol too. Check out these charts!

That's awesome! How are you feeling about the change?

It's so important to celebrate the small wins along the way! One person on another site said they rewarded themselves whenever their A1C went down a point, or when their cholesterol improved. They got themselves a gift when they lost the first 20 pounds, and another when they could shop in a regular store. What a great idea!

Yeah, I'm thinking of buying myself a new suit when I hit my goal weight. Gotta have something to look forward to!
