GLP-1 and food regrets? 😩

So, I'm almost at the one-month mark with Ozempic, and things have been pretty smooth. Mostly cooking at home. But yesterday, date night happened! Movie and then our go-to wing spot. I nibbled on popcorn at the movie, saving room for dinner. At the restaurant, I got ten wings with sweet potato fries, planning to eat half. Big mistake, I guess.

I managed only four wings and a handful of fries. Felt a little queasy, had some water, thought I was golden. Then, I ordered a mini dessert – churro cake with ice cream. Ate half, still okay. Got home, drank more water, all good. Until this morning. Ugh. Woke up burping like a volcano and knew trouble was brewing. Projectile vomited everything from dinner, including my meds. Awful.

Now I'm convinced that fried stuff is a no-go. And the thought of eating out makes me queasy. So many people talk about finding safe foods, and now I definitely know what my stomach hates.

I'm so lucky, I can eat whatever I like and I never get sick, but only if I stop eating soon as I'm starting to feel full. If I eat too much I'm in a world of pain even if it's healthy food.

Hope you're feeling better, Sub_Guy719! That nausea can be brutal. I tend to get sick the day after my shot, no matter what I eat. Thank goodness for my anti-nausea meds!

I've noticed it's not necessarily greasy foods for me, but more about eating too much at once. Maybe that's what happened to you?

Hope you are feeling better Sub_Guy719!

I was out for my son's graduation celebration yesterday at a Vietnamese restaurant and my spring roll was awful! The taste wasn't right. My taste buds clearly didn't agree with something. I had a little bit of a mango salad and that was fine. The rest of the evening was a waste of food!

I have to avoid fried foods, but I sometimes forget and then regret it. I made a chicken and cheese quesadilla last night and now I feel terrible. Honestly, I don’t know what to eat anymore. Some salads don't work for me either. But sometimes flatbread with cheese is ok - even though it's high fat.

Oh no, those sulfur burps (sometimes fizzy 🤮) are the worst part of eating something you shouldn't have!

I've been there. Not doing that again! I feel for you!

I had a weight loss procedure about a decade ago and dropped around 150 pounds. It was difficult, but great! Now I've regained about 35 pounds...not ideal. I took Ozempic a couple of years ago to help, and the weight came off again. The problem is that my stomach is small, so I eat tiny amounts anyway. Late-night snacking is my weakness. My doctor told me years ago that by the time you feel full, you've already eaten too much. So, I'm sticking to very small portions this time. I've been more nauseous this time, but I know it will all be worth it.
I tried a wine cooler the other night... big mistake- definitely learned my lesson. Just keep trying different foods in small amounts... it will be worth it!!!
Wishing everyone luck and success with getting healthier 🙂

Hope you're doing better! I've been taking this medication for close to a year and had my first vomiting incident last week. Before, I didn't get why people would stop taking the meds because of side effects, but I understand now. The nausea reminded me of the awful morning sickness I experienced while pregnant. Absolutely horrible.

I've basically been surviving on protein shakes in my coffee and light crackers since starting Ozempic three weeks ago. I'm not even interested in my favorite foods, except for chicken and rice once in a while. Oh, and I can handle a little ice cream at night. But that's it – no fried or junk food.

Pick one treat, maybe? Not wings and dessert. Choose either wings or dessert, and I’d recommend avoiding the fried option since it seems like people react worse to that than something sweet.

Exactly. I'm learning to stop eating even if I don't feel completely full. Because now I'm so nauseous that I just went to the 1.0 dose. I feel sick like I have morning sickness all day. So I've started not eating as much as I used to. Glad you figured it out, Sub_Guy719. Best of luck to you.

I am thinking about adding a protein shake to my diet. I have read a lot of people like including them. Do you guys find them helpful? I want to up my protein intake since I am eating so little. I am worried about bloating and stomach upset if I drink them though.

Protein shakes have been a game changer for me. I drink one nearly every day. I have tried so many and Fairlife ones taste like chocolate milk so I keep going back to them. Others I have tried taste chalky. I also feel full for a while after drinking so its helped me with snacking.

I agree with TrueMode, Fairlife protein shakes are my go to when I need more protein. I like the ones with 30 grams of protein, and they don’t have a bad aftertaste.

I definitely agree with what everyone is saying about protein shakes. I have also been trying to find a good routine for eating. It is hard to eat when you are constantly on the go. I saw someone mention a yogurt mix and think that sounds easy and delicious! I might try that!
