GLP-1 and weekly head pounders?

Every week, a few days after my injection, I get these throbbing headaches, always on the right. It lasts about 3 days, and I'm on week nine at 1mg. They can be terrible, really interfering with work. Everything I've read says headaches are normal at first, while the body adjusts, but they should go away. Mine aren't. I'm drinking just as much water and eating healthy meals, so I don't think it's that. Anyone else get these headaches? Besides over-the-counter pain pills, any advice?

Hey, I'm new here! Just a friendly reminder that we can't talk about unapproved stuff, and don't buy or sell anything here. If you're new, check out the FAQ:

Headaches are a potential side effect, but since they are one-sided and pulsing, and happen every week, I'd discuss this with your doctor.

I've had headaches for around 4 months now. I just had to take a couple of Ibuprofen. Drinking plenty of water and taking electrolytes doesn't seem to help. It's the main negative effect that I've experienced.

It's not only about water or eating well, it's often about electrolytes. You could drink 64oz of water but still need electrolytes. I was getting awful headaches even when I was drinking tons of water. I started using electrolyte powder, and the headaches stopped. The directions say to use 16oz of water, but I use 40oz.

I've been on this for over a year and still get headaches maybe twice a week. I drink lots of water. I just take Excedrin.

Increase Sodium and Magnesium.

One-sided headaches can be migraines.

I'd try to determine if the headaches are related to the medication. Varying the dose and timing could help.

(1) Delay your injection by 3-7 days to see what happens. No headaches strengthens the case.
(2) Drop to 0.75mg - less medication should lessen the intensity of the headaches.

Staying hydrated and replenishing electrolytes really helped me! When I asked support about headaches, they said dehydration is the most common reason.

To add to what Nat67 suggested, it's also worth keeping a headache diary. Note down when they happen, how severe they are, what you ate, and any other meds you're taking. This can help your doctor identify potential triggers.

Has anyone else felt like they have the flu a lot of the time? I've been on 0.25 semaglutide for a month, bumped to 0.5 for 3 weeks and got a bad stomach bug so I dropped back to 0.25. I'm down about 15 pounds, but I've felt nauseous since starting. Is this my new normal?

Splitting the starter dose can fix that. Stay at the lower dose if you're still losing weight. I've been on it for almost two years and take the starter dose every other week. More water, fruits, veggies and protein help (less processed foods the better).

Also, if you're experiencing any skin reactions like hives or rashes, it's crucial to monitor those closely and report them to your doctor promptly. Allergic reactions can sometimes occur with these types of medications.

first shot barely felt it. sensitive spot once in a while but no big deal. almost a year later, every single injection hurts a lot. tried different spots, doesn't help. inject thighs. anyone else?

got a few cheap pens off ali, all work great. pre-apply 4-5% lidocaine cream 20 min before & i can find painless spots usually. lately my hips sting tho, not sure if my skin's just sensitive now or bad batch of needles.

I'm on Biomed and KS-Tec vials. Sent a sample to the lab even after filling them myself and got clean results—no sterility or endotoxin flags. But honestly, you don't need to transfer your BAC into smaller vials. Just grab a sterile 100ml bottle, add benzyl alcohol, and you're done. Yeah, you'll have extra, but it's so cheap you can trash 75% and still come out ahead.
