GLP-1 Constipation Got Me Down 😩

me too! started w/ terrible diabetes and 250 to lose, no hope it'd work since nothing else did. even w/ muscle and bone loss i'm way better off. no regrets, just new goals to chase while keeping the wins.

be patient. if you're not seeing weight loss the meds are fixing stuff inside you can't see. lost water weight month 1, then nothing for 2 months, but inches melted off. trust the process.

the stop-fiber-while-blocked protocol is the right call when nothing is moving - adding more bulk to a system that is not clearing the existing load only makes things worse, and the fiber pause alongside stool softener plus MiraLAX gives the transit mechanism a chance to actually work. hydration is the multiplier that makes the osmotic laxative effective; without it the medication pulls from the gut wall rather than from consumed water

the emergency room threshold for constipation is a real clinical consideration that the OTC advice tends to underweight - beyond 5-7 days without a bowel movement, particularly with abdominal pain, distension, or vomiting, the possibility of an actual obstruction needs to be evaluated in person. GLP-1 constipation is common but does not exclude mechanical obstruction, and waiting longer at that point is the riskier choice
