GLP-1: Injection site + Costco finds?

Really grateful for this post. Grabbed a whole box of chocolate protein shakes, been a fan of that flavor forever but hadn't kept up with drinking them lately. Rough emotional couple of days at the start, mostly exhaustion and barely eating anything. Hunger's crept back somewhat now, but I'm keeping close watch on what actually goes into my body. Staying hydrated too. Got a small amount of prep done ahead of Thursday's shot. Feels good having some idea what's coming those initial days afterward!
 
Honestly none of anyone else's concern. Been taking this medication for a full year now. Only my husband and kids actually know. People ask whether I've lost weight and how, and I just say yes, being more deliberate with food choices and staying active with exercise. Had a few people straight up guess I'm on this drug class. My go-to response is just asking why they'd even ask that in the first place?! Usually shuts it down fast. Or I'll ask if they happen to be on a certain erectile dysfunction medication, about equally rude a question to pose.
 
Congrats! I havent begun yet and your post helped me. Can I ask where you did your first shot? My stomach is the plan, but I'm unsure whether the site makes a difference.
 
Apparently after Mounjaro you cant switch to Ozempic, or so Ive read, so I began on Ozempic. Five weeks in, its working for me, so I suggest starting there. Costco prices get matched by lots of the newer pharmacies around the GTA. Look for a recently opened one nearby, they badly want customers.
 
At Costco a pharmacist did my first shot and demonstrated each step, and as a needle-phobic nervous wreck, it paid off once I injected by myself at home. Could be worth asking your pharmacy to help with the next injection.
 
Roughly 15 lb came off between late April and now, and I split my dose from week 2. My rx was 50 units weekly, so I took 30 at the start of the week and 20 at the end. I rotated between thighs for the site. Side effects only showed up the week after my first dose, that one injected into the belly. From then on things went smoothly, just some occasional constipation.
 
Some people will always argue about this, like they did when I brought it up months ago, but my own experience says the injection site matters (there was a small Lilly study hinting the same). Thighs are my usual spot, but one time I used my stomach and got far worse gastric side effects with weaker hunger suppression. One attempt isn't science, yet I returned to rotating on both thighs, everything normalized, and I'm staying there. Maybe full recovery time between sites explains it for some. Blood supply and fat distribution might also play a role, both very individual. Good to know site choice can matter if you're struggling.
