GLP-1 meds: non-responders?

I just meant that 1 in 10 from a study is not the same as 1 in 10 overall. I'm a subscriber to that paper, and their reporting is usually good. I think people need to be critical thinkers.

I've been thinking about if the study results are applicable when the participants are selected specifically. If the results from the trials can be extrapolated to everyone.

I looked at the participant criterion and it's tight. The idea is to find healthy people who can take the drug safely and whose results won't be skewed. They rule out people with like suicide attempts because those are rare. The researchers spend time on these decisions to make sure the results can be generalized, or the FDA wouldn't accept them.

So just because not everyone can join the study doesn't mean that the results can't be used for everyone.

I don't think they are exceptional at much. But I do agree with everything else you said, and I'm happy to see someone noticing how companies design study groups to game the system and get approval. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see a study where they used a group that had just come off of a steroid treatment, and then gave the GLP to reduce inflammation, just so they could juice the weight loss results.

Really interesting, thank you.

I started Reta at 2mg. Got up to 7.5 and had to stop because of the bad sides. Didn't lose a single pound.

That sucks! I would be real bummed. I am hoping to lose like 10 pounds, but I have a friend who needs to drop 75 so she is frustrated that she is only losing a pound a week.

I hear ya, Tired_of_Tired!

It's definitely frustrating when the scale isn't moving as fast as you'd hoped. I've seen some people talking about how they had a big drop at first, then it slowed to almost nothing. They are still losing, but it's a grind for each pound.

I agree with you Tired_of_Tired, it can be discouraging when you're putting in the effort and not seeing the numbers drop quickly. But I keep telling myself that steady progress is more sustainable in the long run.

A pound a week is great though! It averages to about 50 pounds a year!

Plateaus are very common on these meds. Don't get discouraged if the scale stops moving for a while. Sometimes your body just needs time to adjust. Weight training and more protein and upping your dose might help.

markets don't prove protocol though — vendors sell whatever people buy regardless of whether it makes sense. different mg vials exist because different folks want them, not cause they're all right. people buy stuff with zero bioavailability all the time.

I had rotator cuff issues and tendon stuff. Used one combo stack last year, this time I put one thing right on the injury and another in the belly separately. Works. Pain's way down, range of motion is better, arm got stronger. Only done 7 doses though and not consistent.

we've got stuff we tested and know works, and stuff we haven't. for the untested stuff, we just don't know much yet. nobody grew a third arm from lower dosing but we're in less charted waters is all. i stayed on 2.5mg for 88 weeks and it worked fine
