GLP-1 Slow Start - Anyone Else?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
didn't lose much on lower doses—even gained some months despite feeling terrible. six months ago i jumped to 12.5, not expecting anything. was 287 at the appointment, 245 today. that's way more than i realized. food noise starting again so my doc said flag it if it gets worse. crazy to think i was pushing 300.

I had the opposite issue. My digestive system was a disaster - 4-5 times each day. Was terrified this medication would make it worse. Instead it basically cleared it up. Now I'm at 3-4 times weekly instead.

Slow start at .25mg is normal and not a sign the medication is not working. The plateau at the starter dose is real but expected. The misinformation about what counts as normal makes it harder to read your own experience. Community-based data beats social media clips.

Six weeks at 0.25mg with minimal movement is common - appetite effect builds gradually over the first few weeks at starter doses. Most people hit clearer suppression at 0.5mg. A month and a half in is still early.

The standard titration schedule reflects drug company trial protocols more than individual optimization - the fastest path to the highest tolerated dose maximizes revenue. Slowing the schedule based on actual symptom response rather than the calendar is reasonable when tolerance is the question.

The 0.25mg adjustment phase rather than therapeutic dose is the part that catches a lot of people. Appetite suppression at that level is inconsistent by design. Most people do not get a real read on what the medication is doing until they are at 0.5mg or above for a few weeks. What is the dose plan from here?

Some people genuinely need to get to significantly higher doses before the full effect kicks in - the 2.5mg starting dose for some isn't where the response actually lives. The OP at 0.25 is at the very beginning of the titration and the slow start is the expected pattern at that level. The scale moving a little early and then stalling before the dose climbs is the most common story here.

If the scale is actually moving, then it's genuinely happening. Just double check you're getting enough fiber and protein in your diet.

Just my first week so nothing noticeable yet, but sticking with the nine clicks for two weeks before bumping to 0.25 so my body can ease into it. Fingers crossed I feel something once I hit that mark.

Probably just water retention showing up. When are you actually weighing yourself? Right after waking up and using the bathroom tends to give the most consistent reading.

Even half a kilo weekly would be great!!! I'd take that happily. Just hoping I can stick with 2.5mg honestly. Hitting week six now and that mental food chatter is completely gone still, barely any appetite left, have to remind myself to actually eat and everything.

Weight loss rarely moves in a straight line. See how next week goes. If nothing's shifted, might be worth nudging the dose up a bit. Could try 1.4mg using pen clicks.

10kg is genuinely fantastic, been on this drug class myself since early April and haven't dropped a thing. Only just now, up at 7.5mg, has that mental chatter around eating even begun to soften a touch. Guess a portion of us are simply built to respond on the slower side.

Are you actually tracking calories to check whether intake's higher than you think? A tracking app works great for that. Genuinely surprised me how many calories certain foods packed in once I started paying attention.

Have you tried getting really precise with your macros to see where things actually stand? Feels like my maintenance calories have dropped pretty low, so losing more would mean a genuine cut. Could be wrong though. Used to track calories religiously for years, but lately I only manage sticking to it in short weeklong stretches.
Hunger's definitely returned. Hoping the appetite-suppressant kicks in soon. Might bump up to 15mg of the main medication next round, mostly out of curiosity about the outcome.
