GLP-1 Slow Start - Anyone Else?

Hey everyone! 🤍

I'm about a month and a half into using .25mg. At first, I saw a little movement on the scale, which was exciting. But since then, it's mostly stayed the same, maybe fluctuating up a pound or two. I know it's a low starter dose and some variation is expected, but it's still mentally tough.

I'm really trying to do everything right:

* Consistent weighing (after my morning routine, pretty much daily).
* Prioritizing protein and fiber in my meals.
* Increasing my activity with more walking and some strength training twice a week.
* Working on sustainable lifestyle changes, not just another restrictive diet.

I'm intentionally holding off on increasing my dose because today's my 30th! I'm going out for a celebration dinner with friends - sushi! I want to enjoy it and not feel sick from a dose increase. I also don't want to escalate the dosage too fast and end up on the highest dose sooner than necessary.

I feel good about making a balanced choice, but I also get worried when I see the scale not moving. I start to doubt if I'm doing enough or if I'll ever reach my goals. And I know I'm being honest with myself about my choices and not underestimating my portions. Last year I was briefly on a similar medication and lost around 25lbs… but then stopped and gained half back.

I have a beach trip planned in about 6 months, and my goal is to lose about half a pound per week until then. Slow and steady. I'm planning to increase my dose next week (maybe a small increment, not a full jump), but right now I just feel a little discouraged.

If anyone else had a slow start that eventually improved, please share! I'm committed to this. I just need a little boost today. 🤍

Happy birthday! I'd suggest weighing yourself just once a week. Daily weighing can mess with your head. Pick one morning and stick to it. Sounds like you're doing great with exercise and diet. Maybe track your food to make sure you're hitting your targets? I like a specific app; it helps me track my protein, fiber, and water.

Are you also tracking your body measurements? I'm in my second week of 0.5mg (after four weeks at 0.25mg), and my weight isn't changing much either. However, I'm consistently losing inches, which is encouraging.

I felt the same way at the beginning! It took some time before I got to what I think was the minimum effective dose, then things started to move more noticeably. It can be so frustrating to see the numbers bounce around instead of steadily declining. Weight loss isn't always a straight line, which is weird.

Keep doing what you're doing! Have you noticed that food cravings are less intense? It took me almost three months to notice improvements on that front.

I dropped about 20 pounds over 3 months on 0.25mg. And then stalled completely for the next 3 months. These things happen. You're doing everything right with the exercises, and protein. It could just take a bit more time, or a slight increase in dose. But you are on the right path.

Happy Birthday! Celebrate these milestones. Don't feel guilty about enjoying your special day.

I'd also advise against daily weigh-ins, even though I can't resist doing it myself. Lol.

I'm on week 16 and down about 16lbs. Quick at the start, then much slower, but I'm glad I didn't gain during the holidays or the crazy winter weather. I'm also feeling a bit down because I've been on 1mg for a month and only lost 2lbs.

I've read that even if the scale isn't moving, you can still be seeing changes in your body composition. Maybe consider getting a DEXA scan to track muscle gain and fat loss?

GLP plotter is a great tool for tracking. I'm not pushing what people should do, just sharing my own data and seeing what others report. We need all available tools to gather information and make better decisions about our own health.

Theatre popcorn hits different when the meds kick in. A small handful maybe, but yeah, the system gets strict about junk food fast. Clean eating becomes non negotiable.
