GLP-1 Starting Tips: Save Yourself Some Grief

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Thanks for the kindness and creative self-care tips. Day by day, and congrats to you too. Bet you're feeling better internally as well.

Try milk. Goes down super easy for me on this stuff, honestly I actually crave it now. Not a fan of regular milk myself, so I go for the chocolate version instead.

Dealt with the exact same thing at first, so the doctor set up a visit with a nutritionist who mostly works with bariatric and GLP1 patients.
Most people starting these meds get basically zero nutrition guidance from their care team, which means a lot of avoidable side effects. These drugs slow digestion so much that what, when, and how food gets eaten really has to change.
First, protein becomes the priority (a target somewhere around a hundred grams daily for women, a bit more for men) along with a solid fiber minimum too.
1. Skip high-fat or oily meals entirely. Puts real strain on the gallbladder and the organs that process fat.
2. Skip cramming everything into three meals. Smaller portions spread across the day work better. Chasing those same protein and fiber numbers in just three sittings brought on sulfur burps and stomach upset. Cutting those portions in half fixed it, half at breakfast, the rest two hours later, then lunch split the same way.
When that feels like too much effort, still just eating a half portion works, sometimes adding a protein shake or some yogurt on the side.
