GLP-1 Success Story - My Journey!

Hey everyone. I'm a 33-year-old woman dealing with PCOS, hypermobility, some insulin problems, inflammation, and IBS, basically the whole package. I began taking Tirzepatide around March '25, weighing 235 lbs. I had been as high as 291 lbs. Now I'm down to 169 lbs! I'm hoping to lose a little more after plastic surgery (getting a tummy tuck in about 2 months, covered by my insurance since I need muscle repair, and I'm in Europe, so they include it!).

I've been eating a diet that's centered around protein, and I drink a lot of water. I was working out regularly until I got sick in October, but now I'm slowly getting back into it at home.

I never went above 5.25 mg. Right now, I'm sticking with 4.38 mg (using click counting from a 12.5 mg pen), and I'll stay at that until after the surgery. I'll probably start back at 2.5 mg, and then adjust depending on how I feel. Maybe up to 3.75-4.5 mg.

My PCOS is under control now. My hair is still falling out, probably from the androgen issue the PCOS caused, and I still get unwanted hair, but it's not as bad. My blood work is good, my vitamin D improved, and my cholesterol is almost normal. Hormones are normal, except for androgens.

My skin isn't as elastic as I'd like it to be. I do have hypermobility, so my skin is how it is. My arms look alright. My back is good. My stomach and thighs? Not so much. Plus, I have extra skin under my chin that I wanna get rid of. Still, I'd rather have this than be overweight, unhappy, and in pain. It was so worth it. I would recommend it!

That’s quite the change! I started about a month later (mid-April 2025) and started at about the same weight as you (235). I'm only a pound or two above you now. Been stuck there for like 3 weeks, can't seem to get below 170! But I don’t look as great as you do!

Congrats!

I'm not envious, I'm much older than you! I'm happy for you! Seeing your photos makes me happy about my own progress, too! We've both done really well!

Wow, big congrats, it's a huge change :)

Can I ask what you did for the androgen hair loss? I have the same problem from PCOS too. Did losing weight help with it? I just started taking the shot. Good luck with the surgery!

Congrats!

You can tell how much hard work you put in. You should be very proud of what you accomplished.

You will feel so much better after your surgery.

I had a panniculectomy last September and I never imagined how much back pain and other issues disappeared after the procedure. It was like a miracle. Good luck with your surgery and long-term success

Love to see posts like this! I'm in a similar boat but I've lost around 50 pounds since July. The apron belly is the one thing that hasn’t gone away, I heard it's extra hard to get rid of if you've had a C-section, which I did 3 years ago. I think a tummy tuck and maybe a breast reduction/lift are in my future!

I'm so happy for you, Val_1990! My blood pressure, A1C, and cholesterol were out of control too. It's great to hear about your improvements. You've probably avoided a future with diabetes!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! LMN_09, I'm still trying to figure out the hair loss thing myself. Losing weight definitely helped slow it down, but it's still an ongoing battle. I'm trying different shampoos and supplements but haven't found a miracle cure yet.

ProteinWine, Yes, there's muscle separation. That's why insurance is covering it. It's a diastasis recti repair.

I hear you! Childbirth really does a number on our bodies. I've been researching tummy tucks and 360 lipo for a while now. It seems like a good option to get rid of the stubborn fat and loose skin.

This gives me hope. I've only lost 15 pounds so far, but seeing your progress is really motivating. I'm hoping to get off my CPAP machine soon, my sleep apnea is terrible.
