GLP-1s and Chocolate?

KILCHBERG, Switzerland March 10 (Reuters) - Turns out that chocolate sales are actually going UP among people using GLP-1 weight-loss drugs in the US, according to Lindt & Spruengli. I saw an article saying they found that about 15% of US households are using GLP-1s, and those households account for nearly 18% of chocolate sales.

Basically, people might be cutting back on stuff like pasta and chips but still want a treat. They are going for the good stuff! Lindt says their premium chocolate sales are way up among GLP-1 users. Is anyone else experiencing this? https://www.reuters.com/business/he...re-eating-more-chocolate-not-less-2026-03-10/

That's so true! If I'm going to indulge in something sweet, I am definitely reaching for the high-end chocolate. Lindt is usually my pick.

Wow, you wrote this just after I bought a Lindt bar yesterday. It's literally been the only sweet thing I've bought in the last 3 months on Mounjaro!

Makes sense! I know I sound like I'm being paid to say this, but I enjoy my annual Lindt advent calendar *way* more than ever since starting on a GLP-1.

I literally can't stand that cheap, waxy chocolate. I've had to spit some out, LOL.

Do I buy the big box of 75% Lindt bars from Costco? Yes, yes I do.

It's so tasty and rich. I eat half the bar (about 100 calories) and I am totally happy.

Most regular sugar chocolate is like cheap, sugary garbage to me now. I'm like that Asian auntie running around going "It's so amazing! Not too sweet!"

That could be true. I used to avoid chocolate completely because it would trigger a total binge. I'd eat the entire box of whatever it was.

Now, I have confidence that I can eat just one piece, enjoy it, and then not think about it. Maybe we are buying chocolate with this new feeling of control, eh? 😊

I actually eat MORE chocolate now than before, but I don’t buy the cheap stuff. I really enjoy a square or two of 80% dark chocolate, and that's enough. Way more satisfying than eating an entire huge bar without thinking.

That's totally spot on, in my experience.

I've had 2 huge chocolate bars in my fridge drawer for 3 years and barely touched them. They're 85% dark chocolate and higher. I just don't crave it like I used to. A little nibble is all I need. Wow! Mounjaro is amazing! Down to around 130 from 225. I have T2D and CKD, but the T2D is doing great, hoping for good lab results soon.

It's so interesting how GLP-1s are changing the landscape of weight management. I even saw an article about how some bariatric surgeons are doing fewer surgeries because the injections are working so well for people.

That makes total sense! I was looking into surgery but decided to try this first, I am so glad I did.

I am a RN and I feel like GLP-1s could really change addiction treatment too. Especially for people struggling with alcohol.

I've noticed I don't think about food as much. I eat when I'm hungry, then I stop and don't think about food until I'm actually hungry again. It's pretty wild!
