GLP-1s and keeping muscle?

I'm hearing rumors about future GLP-1 meds that might not cause as much muscle loss. Anyone else hear anything?

That'd be awesome! I think I heard a podcast saying some companies are working on combining GLP-1s with something to boost IGF-1 levels.

I'm planning on trying that too! Once my cagri and sema are at a 1:1 ratio, I'll get some bloodwork to check on my liver. If everything looks okay, I'm gonna go for it. Hopefully, I'll be less self-conscious at the gym by then & start with weights instead of just cardio. Wish me luck!

A few things to consider, @Wes_2002:

1. Nobody at the gym is paying that much attention to you. Everyone's focused on their own workout or socializing. Don't let that hold you back!
2. SARMs will still suppress your natural testosterone, even at lower doses. Be careful if you're planning on using Ostarine. Here's a study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3177038/. They found even small doses can have an impact. If you are going to use it, keep the dosage low. The study indicates some benefit with 3mg, but higher doses will likely cause more suppression.
3. Make sure you're eating enough protein! Some people can maintain muscle on as little as 0.5 grams per pound of body weight with resistance training, but I prefer to aim for around 1 gram per pound.
4. If you're feeling shy about the gym, start with resistance bands at home. They're inexpensive and you can find tons of tutorials online.

1. It's definitely a 'me problem.' I'm just really shy especially going solo.
2. The plan is to start incredibly low with Ostarine. Thanks for the dosage advice, @Bobby45! I don't want to lose all my muscle before summer - I'm hoping to bike, hike and swim regularly.
3. Working on upping the protein intake! Thanks for the reminder!
4. I've been using a stationary bike at home. Joining the gym is my next big step.

1. I used to be super shy too. Eventually, I realized everyone's just trying to figure things out and wants the same basic things. Don't be afraid to talk about your feelings, insecurities, and goals. We all want to feel good about ourselves, have support, and vent about annoying coworkers. Get out there and crush those goals!

2. Swimming is awesome exercise! Low impact and burns tons of calories. Hopefully, you don't live somewhere too snowy or cold.

3. I have a bike in front of my TV. Do I slow down when I'm watching something good? Of course! But it's better than nothing.

Most people at the gym are either not paying attention to you at all, or are actually friendly and willing to help. They'll show you how to use equipment or give you a spot if you need it. Mostly, they'll just leave you alone to do your thing.

If you're a regular, you're focused on your own goals, so watching other people is just a distraction.

The exception is the 'influencer' types who set up their phone tripods and film content. How many of those you see depends on where you are and the specific gym.

Personally, I hate waiting for machines, not controlling the music, and wearing headphones, so I built my own home gym.

Find one of the big dudes and ask them to show you around the gym and explain the machines. Most of us gym rats love showing people the ropes. I see people looking lost all the time, wanting to join in. I'll go up and offer to help them out. I might look intimidating on the outside, but I'm always happy to help.

Good point about the mental game, @Bobby45. I've been seeing a lot of gains even on Ozempic BUT I think its because I'm lifting more. The numbers on the scale are coming off slower, but the visual changes are becoming more obvious. More muscular and toned despite what you read online! Especially arms and legs.

Peptides oversell and underdeliver except for the actual GLP ones. Not getting big muscle from peptides, they're basically a step above vitamins. Want real bodybuilder muscles? That's steroids plus gym plus diet. Being healthy is different from looking unnaturally large. You want the unnatural look? Use unnatural stuff.

Ozempic wasn't working for me but switched to Mounjaro and it clicked. Now I can move again - tying shoes and getting in cars is so much easier than it was. What a relief to drop 30 pounds. Hope the insurance keeps covering this.

I'm doing the peptide stack too - tesa mixed with ipamorelin seems to help keep strength up. Added some other recovery compounds recently and the old aches have eased. Probably the mix of everything.

posted about turning those lean muscles round a month ago. you all said creatine so i grabbed some that day. changed nothing else. pic 1 is today and wow. this community taught me so much about recomp. not selling it, just generic amazon stuff.
