GLP-1s: Do Younger People Lose More?

I can believe that. I also think people with a lot more excess weight to lose, lose it faster at first. I've found it tough to lose after the first 10 or so pounds. Probably my job sitting most of the day! But I'm on 6mg of reta and 1mg sema and started losing a couple lbs a week again. I began at 247 and I'm now 230, after about 4 months. I will take it!

That's both a blessing and a curse. The good part is younger folks can get a grip on their well-being early on. They won't have to be overweight for decades like some of us have. They'll truly get to enjoy their younger years. The downside is the weight usually returns when they stop the medication, so they may require some sort of continuous treatment.

Speaking for the older crowd, we didn't get to enjoy our potentially thinner younger days. But we probably won't need the meds for 40-60 years... because we might not even live that long! I see that as a plus.

It's interesting to hear how different people's bodies react. I was working out like crazy and watching my diet for YEARS with absolutely zero results. Started Ozempic and things finally started moving. It's mind-blowing.

That's kinda how I felt too! I was doing everything "right" and the scale wouldn't BUDGE. It's like my body was fighting me. So frustrating!

For some, GLP-1s enable glucose to be used properly instead of being stored as fat. If your body isn't converting glucose correctly, working out won’t burn calories as expected. Good luck to all.

Wow, congrats on the 75lb loss @ShrinkingViolets55! That's amazing progress. What kind of dietary changes did you make, if you don't mind me asking?

sometimes you just gotta let people figure things out on their own instead of spelling everything out. this is supposed to be a community anyway not like customer service so maybe treat folks like people not like theyre ordering from amazon

I'm asking because I think it makes sense to bump the dose if you need to, especially for myself. I'm sitting at 12.5mg right now and still need to drop another 30 or 40 pounds. Been stuck before and who knows what happens next. Wanted to be ready for it just in case.

honestly i think about this a lot. doctors are trained to treat symptoms not find root causes and it drives me nuts. medical malpractice is literally the third leading cause of death which is insane when you think about it. like if any other profession had that track record people would be losing their jobs left and right. im glad to see more people questioning things and taking their health into their own hands now

Totally get that mix-up between harm reduction and harm avoidance. Sleep deprived here too.

I was that person taking risky stuff because info was sketchy. After you learn something the hard way once or twice, you get a lot more cautious. Knowledge changes how you act.

Hope he reads up and educates himself. Never really thought overdoing GLPs was possible, you'd need some serious poor judgment, but the more I learn the lower that bar seems.
