GLP-1s & Gas? šŸ’Ø

So, maybe this is too much info, but I just started Mounjaro and OMG the gas is unreal. I asked the pharmacist about it, and she said it's a common thing since it slows down digestion and messes with hunger signals. She said it might get better as my body gets used to it or if the dose changes. Anyone else dealing with this craziness? Does it ever stop?

Keep dating, girl! If they can't handle a little gas, they aren't worth it. My man would just laugh and tell me it's all good. Find someone like that!

OMG, tell me about it! I was a fart factory the first few weeks. Mostly at night, thankfully. I thought I was gonna float away! My partner thought it was hilarious. It does get better, I promise. Just hang in there!

I get super gassy (minus the artistry, lol) when I eat too much. I've been on Ozempic for almost a year, and if I overdo it, I'm a symphony of farts and burps, plus the runs and nausea. When I first started, it was awful because my stomach was huge, and it took forever to digest anything! Also, if he can't handle farts (which are kinda funny, IMO), he's not Mr. Right.

I know it's uncomfy and not great for you to do all the time, but do people not hold farts in? I used to suck it up at work or school and sneak off to a restroom if I had to. No judgement, but I couldn’t even imagine just letting them rip on a date!

Now I have the opposite prob… I had to get an ileostomy (not from holding farts in, lol) and air is always coming outta my stoma since starting Wegovy. I can’t control it at all… No smell praise God, but the sounds are super obvious. Haven’t been on a date since April when I started the med.

My wife is so over my sulfur burps. They hang in the air for ages, and she's walked right into them more than once 🤢

I remember once, way before Ozempic, I let out a crazy loud burp on a date because I was looking out the window and forgot myself. On a first date! šŸ˜‚ I thought it was hysterical, but he was NOT amused. Never heard from him again. My hubby now loves my burps or at least puts up with them lol. It’s called life, people!

Oh, totally! There are a few things happening.

1. Slower digestion, like your doc said.
2. Your own unique gut bacteria.
3. How it is working with different foods.

So, the main thing is usually gas and burps. It is often set off by foods, but it’s hard to know exactly what bugs each person has living in their gut. For me, fiber and fats are the worst, like pea or tortilla soup.

Basically, you will be punished for eating the wrong foods. There is no justice here, nothing to do but stop eating those foods. Ozempic is a cold dictator.

You can add digestive enzymes and probiotics but it’s a slow change, and will only help a bit. In reality, Ozempic works by punishing you for eating fattening foods.

Just getting rid of the duds, sweetie. If a guy can't deal with your body's natural functions, he's not the one! There's tons of food tips if u search here, keep up with ur fibre (sugar free metamucil!) & probiotics & stay super hydrated.

For those having GI issues, I saw a recommendation for enteric coated peppermint oil capsules, supposedly they move bacteria out of the small bowel to treat IBS

Good advice! Fiber is key. I add a scoop of Benefiber to my coffee every morning and it really helps with regularity. Keeps me feeling full longer too.
