GLP-1s: Magic or nah?

The bias some people have against heavier folks using medication is astounding. I'm only now realizing how differently I get treated, now that I'm down around 45 pounds. It's not just in my head; some people really do hate people with extra weight.

Sounds like someone thinks these meds are a miracle cure. Those of us who know it's a tool to help build better food and movement habits understand it's not that simple.

It's a tool, for sure. And real success means exercise and healthy food. I am so grateful for this medication. I've dropped over 90 pounds since spring of last year. 50 more pounds to go and first time EVER, I feel like I can get there. I'll stay on it forever if I can; I hope so anyway.

So, all those miles I log on the treadmill and the low-carb meals are just... for fun? It's ONLY the meds working?

Don't mean to flex, but I once smelled an apple pie at the grocery store. Been a size small ever since 💅🏻

I stopped the injections after losing 60+ pounds. Stopped around May because I hit my goal. I check my weight regularly, eat when I'm actually hungry, and watch the carbs. I don't lift weights but stay active gardening and cleaning. So far, haven't gained any back! I wasn't a huge overeater, but was pushing 200lbs at 5'7" due to thyroid issues. This was the only thing that helped me lose. If I start gaining, I'll adjust my diet.

It's interesting how people react. I've noticed fewer people ask how I lost the weight and more are asking if I had surgery or if I'm using something 'addictive'. It's weird.

My own sister-in-law gave me side-eye when I mentioned Wegovy. Said something about it messing with... downstairs stuff? LOL. You can't win.
