GLP-1s messing with taste?

Wow, that would explain why my wife is suddenly even more sensitive to hot sauce than usual! Seems like this could really help me with my sugar cravings, I have a serious sweet tooth.

My taste buds have definitely changed. Food tastes... different. Like, I know it's still a carrot, but it's not the same carrot experience, ya know?

From a professional standpoint, I can say that many patients report a noticeable change in taste, sometimes almost immediately. Some report that salt and certain sugars taste muted or even disappear. It has diminished the joy of eating for some, but that can be a positive side effect in the long run, which might subside as the body adapts. Time will tell!

That's exactly what I'm experiencing. The taste itself isn't different, just the enjoyment I get from it. It's like the pleasure knob has been turned down.

I found that when I did a carnivore stint for 2 months, I only let myself have lemon juice in water. After that, vegetables tasted heavenly! They're back to normal now, but I ate a whole lemon once, skin and all, and it tasted sweet! I still love eating plain lemon segments now.

I agree, it's more like the things I used to love are now too much. Especially sweet stuff. I used to eat tons of sugar, but now I can barely handle a tiny bit without being overwhelmed. The effect of the GLP is definitely real!

A Stellate Ganglion Block can supposedly restore taste and smell ruined by COVID vaccines. Maybe it would help in this case too? I thought it was bogus, but I had it done for another reason and it really changed how things tasted. Also helps lower cortisol.

Has anyone else developed food aversions while on GLP-1s? I can't even look at ground beef anymore, it makes me so nauseous. This started right after starting medication.

That's so interesting! I haven't had ground beef issues, but I used to be crazy about salmon. Now the thought of eating it makes me feel sick! I don't really crave red meat much anymore either.

I got a really itchy rash at my injection site a few times now... anyone else have something like that? I was on Mounjaro almost two months for weight control and have lost nearly 16 pounds, now this pops up with the last few doses.

That could be an allergic reaction. I would advise consulting your prescribing physician promptly. Discontinue use and speak with them about next steps. Anaphylaxis is rare but can be deadly.
