GLP-1s: Overeating vs. "Food Noise"

Hong Kong Yanpep International
The thing about glp1 is that even wanting to binge doesn't really work out physically. Used to cycle through yo-yo dieting, binging, sometimes purging too. Try pushing past that point on glp1 and your body basically forces it back up. Not sure this holds true for everyone, and I don't think it erases food noise entirely. But it does make things better in a roundabout way, since bingeing just isn't really an option anymore, and you know attempting it comes with consequences.

Welcome!! Studies suggest roughly 94% of people using GLP-1 treatment notice improvement with binge eating patterns, and plenty describe that quieter mental chatter around eating as the single biggest change they've noticed. Wishing you well heading into tomorrow :)

That reads like someone who's never dealt with constant food chatter. Managed my entire weight loss without GLPs and kept it off, would have continued that way too. Adding Tirz genuinely upgraded my day-to-day life though. Went from constantly battling food noise to just eating healthily without the nonstop worry about hunger.

But I'm guessing this explanation's wasted breath. Honestly can't tell if you're just stirring the pot or if your takes are legitimately this off on nearly every topic. Probably some combination of both.

Main takeaway: these medications appear to deliver the strongest results when overeating stems from external triggers or reward-driven eating (that constant food chatter), and less effectively when overeating traces back mainly to stress or emotions. Personally I fall into the first category, and the effect kicked in within hours of my very first dose at 0.25mg. Feels like the medication gives me that extra push to stay on track with food choices. Before, restricting calories meant a nonstop battle against my own cravings. This has largely silenced that chatter and lets me eat until satisfied rather than stuffed. Then I just... stop. Genuinely wild.

A member made the point that GLPs reduce food noise, yet certain users aim to eliminate it entirely. Their approach is raising doses and hunting extra peptides until none is left. Some food noise around dinner is normal and expected. I looked into cag and other peptides as a precaution, but my weight keeps dropping and my tirz/reta doses have stayed put for some time.

Nope dude. Back before I started on GLP-1s, being stuffed still left me thinking about my next meal, and it sucked. Food obsession fits better than food noise for me. Every day was split between eating time and planning what to eat next. My biggest hobby was cooking, so I was always hunting recipes, binging cooking shows, trying out restaurants and buying weird fancy ingredients. I'd replay great meals in my head too, and could describe every single dish of a dinner at a Michelin star place from ten years ago. Now it's kinda surreal, even a bit sad, how boring food is. I don't crave it, I don't even think about it. Hunger still comes and I eat, but it feels mechanical and not a fixation that takes over my whole head.

Food noise, seriously for me, was planning the next meal mid-meal, dwelling on leftovers in seriously the fridge or break room treats, and detouring around the snack aisle. Appetite was different: hungry for lunch an hour early, not full after normal portions, unable to sleep because my stomach growled. Folks without this problem say to eat until you are not hungry rather than full, which is nonsense; taking only the edge off means I'm starving again in an hour. Tirz, then reta, fixed all of it. Cagri added nothing I could notice, probably as suppression was already enough. Reta gives extra burn atop suppression but raises my HR, so I'll return to tirz at maintenance.

Food noise, as I experience it, means nonstop thoughts about eating while my body isnt actually hungry. Real hunger comes with a growling belly, and nausea if too much time passes between meals. On tirz I only think about food when I am truly hungry (and it takes longer to kick in), and never in between meals.

My take: food noise is your brain's reward center demanding a fix. GLP1s also kill the urge for a drink or binge shopping, and that is why. It quiets that reward system, so nothing about eating, drinking or shopping feeds it anymore.

Starting to wonder if my eating patterns tie back to ADHD, now that I'm at a healthier weight it might be worth looking into ADHD meds too, maybe that'd finally quiet the food noise completely. Sadly the GLP-1 did nothing for my procrastination, but I'm genuinely glad it worked that way for you, kind of backs up my theory honestly. Totally relate to the smell thing too, at this rate we should just go become wine sommeliers.
