Goal weight: Now what?

Hey everyone! I've finally reached my weight goal using semaglutide. I'm really happy, but also a little unsure about what to do next. How have others managed this maintenance phase? Any tips or experiences you can share?

Congrats on reaching your goal! It's definitely a process. Since the holidays are here, I'd suggest staying on your current dose for a bit longer, especially with all the temptations around. After the new year, you could consider tapering down slowly, staying at your current dose, or even stopping completely (though I wouldn't recommend that last one). I tried to taper off tirzepatide and gained some weight, so I went back up and added semaglutide to help. Now I'm on a lower dose of both. I plan to stay on these long-term for the health benefits, not just weight. Good luck!

That's awesome! I'm aiming for 150 myself. Down to 182 from 208 – slow and steady. Did anyone experience any changes in breast size? Hoping I don't lose too much there, lol.

It's a trip, isn't it? Achieving something big like this and still feeling...normal. I think it's time to focus on strength training, upgrade your wardrobe, and think about all the things you held back from doing because of your weight. Really lean into enjoying your new body and all the possibilities. It's a mind game now, staying aware and making healthier choices.

You look incredible! After stopping sema, eating lots of protein and sticking to a mostly clean diet (like a relaxed paleo) helped me a lot. Avoiding processed foods, sugary drinks, and too much junk is key.

Remember the long-term effects are still not fully known. Issues with pancreas, gallbladder, or thyroid are serious. It's only been around for a short while for weight loss. My advice is to taper off, build healthy habits, and keep an eye on your weight with intermittent fasting (like 16:8). Get enough protein, drink water, and lift weights. Body fat scans are better than just weight. Build muscle to boost metabolism. These drugs don't build muscle; they can even reduce it. Muscle helps prevent joint problems and falls later in life. Women especially need it for menopause. Start now, since muscle loss starts around 30 and accelerates after 40.

I'm wondering about tapering too. I'm close to my goal. Can you drop from 1.5mg to .25mg right away, or is a slow taper better? I'm guessing tapering is easier on the system. And congrats on your success Rory!

Thanks for all the advice! I'm definitely going to focus on building muscle and maintaining a healthy diet. I think tapering slowly is the way to go for me.

I've heard people say they're exhausted on Ozempic/Mounjaro. Is that a common thing?

Yes! Some people think it's from not eating enough, or maybe the drug itself. I'm on a really low dose now for maintenance (0.25mg every 10 days), and I have way more energy.

Same spot here on 6mg weekly and I'm holding steady while the scale keeps moving. About 30 pounds shy of where I want to be, then I'll dial it back to maintenance mode once I get there.

I hear you, my buddy hit goal a few weeks back. We're playing around with adjusting the weekly amount now. Think we've dialed in something solid - still got appetite but not overdoing it.
