Hitting my 3 year mark - time for upkeep!

Hi all! I can't believe it's been almost 3 years since I found this community. Back then, summer of '22, there were barely any of us here. I've gone from a BMI of 43 to a much healthier 22. I'm 5'3''. My pants size has gone from a very tight 18-20 to a comfortable size 2 (sometimes a 6, depending on the brand). I actually don't know my exact weight because I refused to step on a scale for years, even before starting the injections, but my doctor knows the specifics. I asked her not to tell me as I'm preferring to measure by clothing sizes. It's all good.

Tirzepatide has seriously changed my life. I'm beyond grateful. Huge thanks to the scientists behind GLP-1 medications. I'm hoping that the price will come down so everyone who needs this can get it for a reasonable cost, like aspirin!

The last year the weight loss has slowed down. I may want to lose a tad more in my thigh area, but I'm not actively trying. Maintenance is now the goal. I sometimes deal with body image issues when I focus on specific areas, but all in all, I’m thrilled! 💃🏻

I was just complaining about how even with losing so much, my body still looks off, so thanks for posting this! It gives me hope.

We have similar body types. My BMI was around 60, and now it's 37, and I look like your before pic. I asked my sister if my top half could get any smaller, and if I'll ever even out. I feel better about the possibility now.

Sorry, I made this all about me! Rude 😂 Congrats! You look great, and it takes effort to get there. You did great!

Slow and steady wins the race! Your post is encouraging, especially for those who don't lose weight quickly. Congrats on the progress; you should be proud.

I started in July 2022. Now, I'm using 7.5 for maintenance. That's the highest dose I've taken. I met my goals there and stuck with it. I'm super happy!

Impressive! I recommend weighing yourself now that you're in maintenance. I've been in maintenance for a year and need to watch my weight since it's easy to gain a few pounds without noticing.

Congrats! Your initial BMI is close to mine. My doctor said she won't let my BMI go below 30, maybe 27. She said that's my goal as she states the number. Your doctor is cool, like you. You talked about fat loss happening later, which is me in my lower stomach; the apron. You're right! I've been down there before, but not for long because of my extreme dieting and exercise. My doctor is a tiny lady.

I'm on 7.5 for maintenance too! I inject every 10 days. I did try it every 12 and 14 days, but every 10 days seems perfect for me. I've been feeling better than I have in the last 30 years. I'm type 2 and was diagnosed 4 years ago. I was only around 20 pounds overweight back then. I was lucky to find out early!

I hear you! My shape is still weird even after losing weight. It's like, where is it all coming from and going to?!

That's a good point. I might have to bite the bullet and weigh myself eventually. Maybe just once a month or something.

For those of you entering maintenance, remember that consistency is key. Gradual dose adjustments and mindful eating habits will help you sustain your progress long-term. Don't be afraid to reach out to your healthcare provider for personalized guidance.
