Hey everyone!

I've struggled with my weight practically my whole life.

I remember hitting 90lbs around 2nd grade. Doctor visits were always something I dreaded.

My dad tried everything. Calorie counting, low carb...

The "walk for half an hour and then get a treat that completely cancels out the exercise" plan.

I missed out on so much as a kid. No gymnastics, no cute swimsuits, I couldn't even ride certain rides at amusement parks because of my size. I remember him calling the school to tell them I couldn't do the climbing wall. Just awful.

And when I got older, I was too close to the weight limits to even try a lot of stuff. I was pushing 270 by the time I was a sophomore. Around 310 at graduation. And about 330lbs after my first kiddo. Stuck there ever since.

Yesterday, I took the kids to one of those indoor play places with all the attractions.

The go-karts had a 300-pound limit. I was just standing there to help my little one buckle up. Didn't even get a wristband.

I got my kiddo all strapped in and the attendant pointed and said "go to kart 7."

I stared at him like he was speaking another language.

I'm too heavy for Go-Karts, dude.

Except I'm not. Anymore.

I swear I felt a lightbulb go off over my head. It was wild.

I ran over to kart number 7 and sat down. Then I reached for the buckle and my heart just sank.

BUT IT BUCKLED!!! AND AT THE SAME LENGTH THE PERSON BEFORE ME HAD IT SET TO!!!

That was it. That was the moment. My life changed.

I bought a wristband and I wasn't held back the rest of the day.

I am going to experience everything I missed out on as a kid.

Maybe I'll even take a class. Who knows.

Tankinis and water slides this year? Definitely.
Maybe even a BIKINI! Imagine that.

Zip lining? Absolutely. Somewhere with a great view. I'm already searching.

What else is out there? I want to try it all.

Playgrounds and those spinning rides. I'm going to do it all.

I had to do the walk of shame off a roller coaster when I was 16. I'm going back to ride that thing this summer. Seriously.

I can't believe this is my life.

If you made it this far, here are the stats:

SW: 321 (Sept '22)
CW: 240 (March '23)

Total lost: 81 (and change)
Percentage lost: 25%

I'm not crying, you're crying! Seriously, though, this is amazing. I'm so incredibly happy for you!!!! You deserve all the good things! Go get 'em!

Wow, your story is way cooler than mine. I was excited that I weighed enough that I could get my own suitcase down from the attic. I've been too heavy to use those pull-down stairs for like, two decades.

Your experience highlights the stigma around weight and how society treats people who are considered obese. Obesity is a medical issue, but it’s inaccurately portrayed as a character flaw: laziness, lack of willpower, etc. I believe that the older weight loss drugs were stimulants because the medical community wrongly thought of obesity as simply a result of laziness, so the solution was to give them stimulants to make it impossible to sit around and eat all day. The problem is, stimulants led to high blood pressure, heart attacks, and mental health problems. I'm thrilled that you're finally able to experience things you should've never been denied in the first place. Have fun!

Amazing! I've always been scared of horses. I think it's because I was afraid I'd be considered too big to ride one. I'm 65 now with bum knees, but after I drop another 35-40 pounds, I'm going to find a horse to ride.

I'm tearing up... I'm hoping I can have this experience soon, too. I was always slim until I had kids. I don't have the same story, but... I've spent my whole adult life trying to get back to a smaller size so I can do all the things. Amusement park rides, hikes, playing with my kids, riding horses, and so on. Thanks for sharing your story!

Okay, I'm a crybaby, lol.

Seriously crying happy tears for you right now. That's fantastic and thank you for sharing your happiness with us. Congrats!

This is a great post! So inspiring! I can almost see you in that go-kart! You did it, enjoy the ride!

This med is truly life-changing, and your story is a perfect example of the fantastic changes it can bring beyond just numbers on a scale. I'm so happy for you!

This is just wonderful. 🥹 I want you to have everything you missed out on. Everything! Enjoy it all! ♥️

This made me tear up because we're not just getting healthier, we're finally getting to do things that were off-limits before. My heart is soaring for you.

This is the best ever. Doing all the things I couldn't do before is the best NSV. So happy for you 🥲

I couldn't love your story more! WOW!!!

I've missed out on so much by being overweight, so many events. I've said no to so many things. I was just watching, not participating, and that's going to change! Thank you SCIENCE! RESEARCHERS! and to my doctor (I have some liver issues) who said GET ON THIS MED.

The accusation of being fake is common--sadly, it happens to people showing great transformation all the time. I'm glad you're ignoring the haters and focusing on your health. Weight loss is a journey, and not everyone understands the struggles or the victories along the way. Keep shining!

I've been reading about how some people are finding cannabis affects how their GLP-1 meds work. Something about digestion and hunger signals being impacted. Interesting stuff.
