Injection site: Does it matter?

The welt reaction at a new site is usually a local histamine response rather than a systemic issue - rotating back to a previously tolerant site while the arm reaction settles is the practical move. Some people find the arm consistently more reactive than abdomen or thigh, which tracks with subcutaneous tissue depth differences.

Most people find the thigh gives more consistent absorption for them - abdomen can vary more with subcutaneous fat distribution.

The science is pretty settled on site not mattering for efficacy - it's the subq vs IM distinction that actually changes absorption, not the body region. That said, a lot of people notice different comfort levels between thigh and abdomen because of fat distribution, which is fine to experiment with even if the outcome is the same.
