Just started sema!

Hey everyone! I had my very first injection of semaglutide yesterday. Total newbie here, 5'2" and weighing in at 205 lbs.

I'm trying this to shed some pounds, boost my self-esteem, *and* tackle some health issues. I developed elevated blood pressure after my pregnancy, about 11 months ago. I'm hoping this helps!

I'll post updates on my progress, both for accountability and to hear from others. I'm curious to hear about your initial experiences. What were the first few weeks or the first month like for you?

Starting dose, 0.25mg weekly.

I'm 5'3" and started around 205 lbs as well. I've dropped around 45 lbs! Also started around 8 months postpartum. My best advice is to track everything—food, water, activity—to make sure you're getting enough nutrients. It will help with any possible side effects. I'm talking protein, fiber, water intake, regular exercise, electrolytes, and a multivitamin. Tracking using an app has helped me! Best of luck to you!

Congrats on starting! Especially with everything postpartum. Don't be worried if you don't notice big changes at 0.25 mg. It's really just to help your body adjust. Some people notice changes in appetite immediately, and others don't, until they go up a dose. Focus on protein, hydration, and some exercise, especially since you're watching your blood pressure. Take it one week at a time. This is about long-term health, not a race to see a certain number on the scale. You got this! 💛

Thanks so much for the support everyone! @MandoLando, I'm def going to start tracking everything really closely. Good call on the protein, fiber, and electrolytes! @L-J-K-91 I needed to hear that about the dosage thing. I keep expecting to see a huge change right away, but I'm going to chill and focus on the long term.

For anyone experiencing joint pain while on semaglutide, consider BPC-157. From what I've read, some folks have had success with 250mcg. Though, be sure to consult your physician before adding any supplements. I've seen some anecdotal evidence that IGF1 LR3 can be useful as well. Just a thought to consider.

How's the cycle going for you so far? Curious about the actual results on your chosen doses and how your body responded. If you don't mind sharing, what was your dose relative to body weight?

Been on sema for nine weeks and only started losing after hitting full dose of .4mg last week-real sensitive so went super slow. Dose goes up a bit with next injection but my doctor prefers low and slow to get results without heavy sides.

Sleep disruption on sema is reported consistently, especially in the first 6-8 weeks or after a dose bump. GLP-1 receptors in the brainstem affect autonomic function including sleep regulation - so the mechanism is plausible. Some people find it resolves once the gut adapts; others notice the disruption correlates with injection day timing. Shifting the shot day by 1-2 days relative to sleep is worth experimenting with before concluding it's a fixed side effect.

Clinical trials have pushed to much higher weekly doses than standard protocols use, so standard starting doses sit comfortably inside the safety envelope.
