Lilly vs. Compound Pharmacies - uh oh!

I kinda figured something like this would happen! Seems like these places are printing money with this stuff. They are probably ready to lawyer up.

It looks like they're targeting the telehealth companies and pharmacies more now. People are more likely to trust something that is from an actual pharmacy that has been approved by the FDA.

Some of these compounding pharmacies are saying the cease and desist letters from Lilly don't actually mean anything, and they are still selling GLP-1s that they call “personalized”.

Apparently, there's a legal battle brewing over patent infringement. But if the drugmakers *lose*, they could risk the billions they make from these drugs...

My clinic actually uses one of these compounding pharmacies for other meds. Right now, they're sidestepping the patent by using slightly different doses and adding glycine plus B12. So, it's not *just* Tirzepatide.

Honestly, the compounded meds ARE tailored to patients because not everyone can afford Lilly's prices! It can save people tons of money. Yes, there's a patent, but not on pricing. Lilly needs to lower their costs. If my doctor tells me I need this or I'll have a heart attack in less than 10 years AND insurance won't cover it...the price should be tailored too! If Lilly won't, the pharmacies will. I'm happy I found this forum.

Here's an article about the government crackdown on off-brand Ozempic and what it could mean for people trying to get it.

Basically, it says the legal teams from the big pharma companies will be the ones deciding how long these personalized doses are available, not the FDA. The pharmacies will try to adjust to find loopholes, and the pharm companies will try to close them. Eventually, the compounds will probably go away.

But there are new meds coming out all the time. Lilly just announced a new oral GLP-1 that had good results in trials. Demand for affordable weight loss meds isn't going anywhere.

I doubt they'll be chasing down my guy who lives in another country who needs a shave and probably has 3 cats. I will take my chances.

My meds came yesterday! The whole thing was so easy, I was amazed. I used some online place and it was quick and easy. The package was cold too when it got here.

MounjaroMama which clinic did you end up going with? I'm still trying to decide.

I have also heard of people who have used online pharmacies and had success. I think it really depends on the pharmacy and location.

I hope my pharmacy isn't affected. I've been getting my meds from them for almost a year, and everything's been great. The customer service is excellent and shipping is fast!

Yeah, hopefully these lawsuits don't mess things up for people who rely on compounding pharmacies for affordability. It's a tough situation.

not absurd, jaded maybe. you send money, they send vials with pharmacy labels, you can't contact the actual pharmacy, no testing papers. your recourse is limited if something goes wrong. unless it's straight from big pharma in prefilled pens, it's a calculated risk either way.

if you go the compounded route, find a real provider, get actual follow-ups, and know which pharmacy they're using. prices should be transparent. just remember compounded isn't the same as brand-name stuff.

magnesium was my game-changer. 1500mg and tons of water did the trick. pharmacy bottle is sour as hell but drink the whole thing and you're sorted by morning.

Insurance won't cover mine but my doc called it into a local compounding place instead. Comes to about $40 a week which I figure I save that in coffee and takeout anyway. Lots of people order from places like Brello or Pomegranate online for about the same.
