On the left is me last year when I turned 34. On the right is me just now that I'm 35.

Started at 385 lbs
Now at 247 lbs.
Down 134 lbs in the last year
Lost 34% of my initial body weight

Starting weight: 157. Goal weight: 115

Today is the beginning of a new chapter for me. I had my first injection yesterday, and I'm really optimistic about losing weight. Finally! I just turned 79 this week, and I've struggled with my weight my whole life. I'm only 4'11", so my ideal weight is around 100 lbs.

I'm a slow loser, which is frustrating. I've tried EVERYTHING you can imagine. Back in the 80s, I drove almost 600 miles for ear stapling at an acupuncture clinic. Remember pushing the staples to kill your appetite? I've also fasted and had my husband drive me around on his motorcycle all day to keep me away from food.

I'm happy to be here and I'm looking forward to getting back to my petite self.

Seriously, congrats! Your starting point was a bit higher than mine, but you've gotten below my current weight! I'm a little envious!

Happy birthday!!! What a massive change.

I'll be turning 35 in a couple of weeks, too. I didn't take a picture when I was 34 because I didn't like how I looked, but I'm planning on getting some professional photos done this year.

To answer some questions I'm seeing: Yes, I started weight training! At first it was just cardio and diet, but now I'm hitting the gym 3-4 times a week. It makes a HUGE difference. My energy is way up! I'm also following a fairly strict keto diet. High protein, low carb. No sugar.

It's amazing what a visual difference progress pics can make! I've been recommending them to my patients. It's hard to SEE the change day to day. But comparing pics from even a month ago can be a real motivator. Keep up the amazing work!

I totally agree with HeartCake. Taking pictures is SO important. I didn't do it at first and I wish I had. I can definitely see a difference now, but it would have been great to have that visual record from the start. This journey is as much mental as physical, and sometimes you need that 'proof'!

I unfortunately did not take a picture on my 34th birthday because I disliked taking pictures of myself, but I plan on taking professional pictures this year.

That's a great idea! Documenting your journey with professional photos is a fantastic way to celebrate your progress and boost your confidence. It also helps to have mementos as well. I've seen women post their weight loss journeys from 2022 and it's really inspiring!
