Losing 100+ lbs... anyone else?

Hey everyone!

I thought it would be great to start a thread for those of us who are aiming to lose a significant amount of weight – like, 100 pounds or more. It can feel like such a huge mountain to climb, but with the new GLP-1 meds, it's actually achievable!

I'm curious about everyone's strategies. What's your medication and supplement stack? What kind of workouts or movement are you doing? Any tips for meal prepping or meal planning? Also, what about changes in your appearance, like skin and hair, or even how people treat you differently? Basically, anything that's helping you on your journey to a healthier you.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Hey! So, officially down 170 pounds, with just 50 more to go! My story is a little different, and I want to share a lesson I learned the hard way.

I have this weird groin injury that doctors can't figure out. I've had all sorts of scans, but they only found inflammation and a hydrocele. It makes it really painful to move around or exercise, so I've lost almost all the weight just sitting around. I can't even lift weights.

I was also super worried about loose skin. I scar badly. Vegans seemed to have less loose skin, and fasters claimed it helped. I decided to experiment with a low-protein diet and fasting, which most people would think is crazy. For the first couple of months, I ate mostly potatoes with a little butter and seasoning, averaging about 15 grams of protein and under 1000 calories a day. Then I upped the protein a bit, but still kept it low, averaging less than 50 grams a day.

Bad results: I still have loose skin. A lot after all this loss. Also, a dexa scan showed that a significant portion of the weight I lost was lean mass, and I'm still over 40% body fat.

Good results: my blood pressure is normal now, around 110/70, down from 200/130. I don't snore anymore. And, besides the groin pain, I can move around easier.

Would I do it again? Probably! I already said I was an idiot!

My goal is to lose around 150 pounds total. I'm down about 55 pounds so far. It's been slower lately, but still going down. I'm trying to build muscle and take care of my skin. Failed at weight loss for decades before starting Tirzepatide. Working to handle cravings and triggers instead of depending entirely on the medication.

My health has improved a ton. Cholesterol, blood pressure, and prediabetes are all reversed. I'm strength training, eating clean, tracking everything, and using GLP-1s. I'm a different person than I was a few months ago. Can't wait to be at a healthier weight. It's like when I quit smoking – a switch flipped in my brain. Now I am a person focused on fitness. I don't add junk to my body anymore.

That's really impressive. If I shed about 140 pounds (or 160 from my highest weight), I'd be in the normal BMI range and at the same weight I was briefly when I was 17. It's encouraging to see others achieving similar goals.

I'm a 5'10" guy, almost 40. Started at 256 and I'm now at 206 after 3 months. Only 50 pounds down but so far so good.

I'm shooting for another 50 pounds down, and then I want to gain maybe 10-15 pounds of muscle over the next few years.

I was working out hard, like six days a week, for the second month. Eating around 1200 calories, focusing on 100-150g of protein daily.

The third month, I was traveling and my diet was all over the place. I only got in 3 or 4 workouts but I walked a lot.

I'm 46, 5'6", highest weight was 330, starting weight on this journey was 320, and current weight is 250. My goal weight is 160, but I'd love to reach 140.

I've been trying to lose weight forever. I had gastric bypass at 21, back in 2000. I went down to 155 and stayed there for about 5 years, then slowly gained it back. Now, 24 years later, I'm at my highest.

I struggled to lose 10 pounds in 6 months, then I heard about Zepbound. I'm not diabetic, so I didn't qualify for Mounjaro. I tried to get Wegovy last November, but couldn't find it. Zepbound was approved, I signed up for the coupon, and found a Walmart that could order it. I started on December 27th.

I'm now at 250 so down about 70 pounds. Losing slowly but surely. I'm happy with that. I'm on 12.5mg split and 0.3mg cagrilintide weekly.

I eat the same thing every morning - egg bites and coffee. I have a protein shake for lunch, and Cook Unity meals for dinner. I drink plenty of water. I walk for exercise and just started bodyweight training. It's easier now that I've lost some weight.

My A1c went from 6.0% to 5.5%. Cholesterol from 169 to 144, fasting glucose from 104 to 92, BP from 130/80 to 105/72. GERD and Plantar Fasciitis are so much better.

I've got some new lower back pain but I'm working on it with exercises and stretches.

I've been able to wear old clothes which is nice. I'm trying not to buy too much new stuff yet. I'm excited to fly again and see how much better I fit in the seat.

I can relate to that last part @one-day-at-a-time. I'm looking forward to fitting into airplane seats better too. Flying used to be so uncomfortable.

It's amazing how many positive changes can happen when you lose weight! Better blood pressure, no more snoring, more energy... it's like a whole new lease on life!

I agree! I've seen similar improvements in my patients. It's not just about the number on the scale, it's about overall health and quality of life.

I feel like I'm not seeing huge progress on the scale. I'm down about 50lbs, but it has slowed way down lately. I'm putting my trust that building muscle will help

I totally get that. Sometimes the scale doesn't tell the whole story. Are you noticing any changes in your clothes or how they fit? That can be a good indicator of progress even if the scale isn't moving as much.

I've found taking measurements (waist, hips, thighs) can be helpful when the scale isn't moving as fast. Also, progress pics. You might be surprised when you compare them!

Yeah, my jeans are fitting better even though the scale hasn't moved a ton. It's weird.

That's likely due to body recomposition – you're losing fat and gaining muscle. Muscle is denser than fat, so you can lose inches without seeing a big change on the scale. NSV!

Started with 0.5mg and still holding there - the appetite control is real enough that pushing higher doesn't feel necessary. Been thinking about reta but honestly tirzepatide keeps working so why mess with it.

Still plugging along at 12.5 now - I'm down to just 10 lbs left til I hit my target! Gotta have patience with this whole thing though

You earned that 100-pound loss through real effort and patience. Don't let that voice in your head about how you look undercut what you accomplished. You feel better, you are healthier - that's what matters.
