Hey all,
I've been taking Wegovy since last fall, around November, and I'm on 1.7mg now. I wasn't really paying attention to my diet at first. I even thought I might've gained a little, but at my checkup in February, my doctor said I'd actually dropped about 10 pounds since October! Started at 305, now I'm around 282.
I decided to get serious about my eating habits a couple of weeks ago and started tracking everything in MyNetDiary with a goal of losing 2 pounds each week. I'm sticking to the calorie recommendations from the app (started at 2000, now at 1700), and I'm making sure to get around 100g of protein every day. I don't feel hungry, and I feel pretty good overall. I'm still eating foods I like, just smaller portions. I also started taking ADHD meds a few days ago, which has lowered my appetite even more, especially during the day. I've had to really push myself to eat more than 1000 calories a day. I'm guessing this will even out as my body adjusts to the medication.
Before, I never ate breakfast or lunch. I'd usually have 3-4 coffees during the day, maybe grab some fast food or high-fat snacks for lunch, eat dinner, and then binge eat until bedtime. Since starting the ADHD meds I don’t like taking them on an empty stomach, so I've been having a handful of nuts and some fruit for breakfast, a couple of coffees, lots of water, and a protein shake for lunch. Then, I try to hit my calorie goals with dinner and a snack before bed. This past week, I've been losing about a pound every day, and everything I'm reading online says that's too much. My next doctor's appointment is still a few weeks away. I'm happy to be losing weight, of course, but I don't want to do it in an unhealthy way. Should I try to eat more calories? Should I just wait and see if it slows down? Or should I just be happy that the meds are working?
I know I should probably have something more substantial than a protein shake (frozen fruit, a splash of juice, water, and 2 scoops of protein) for lunch, but I can't even think about eating anything else while the ADHD meds are at their strongest. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
