Major weight loss, feeling great!

I'm not sure why my first post vanished. Trying again.

So, I switched from one GLP-1 to another when the first became impossible to get. I have some extra skin now, which I really don't like, but can't afford surgery to remove it. I've also developed the dreaded 'sema butt' and face. Since summer '24, my weight has stabilized around 106-111. My liver is much better now. My A1c is great, too.

Ask away if you have questions.

Just a note - I lost weight very gradually at the start. About 3-4 lbs each month for the first few months. Then about 8lb each month. And yes, I still think about food a lot! I still get hungry!

My partner shed over 100lbs and has some loose skin, but she doesn't care. She found some cute swim bottoms that look like little shorts and a bikini top. I'm around 275 lbs now. I started on GLP-1s about a month ago and want to drop 75 lbs. (I'm 6ft). I even joked about getting matching shorts for our trip!

Wow, you've lost a significant amount of weight. I'm impressed! No questions, just wanted to say great job on the weight loss and the improved blood sugar!

This might be a bit weird, but I think I saw you on another forum about a genetic condition - are you a 'zebra,' too?

I have a type of EDS, and I started GLP-1s a few weeks ago. I'm taking my next dose soon, and I'm not losing weight rapidly, but my skin is super stretchy, so I'm even more concerned about loose skin!

I'm sorry if you're also dealing with that, but it helps to know I'm not the only one on here! 🥰🦓

To the OP, you mentioned losing weight slowly at first, about 3-4 pounds for the initial few months, and then at a faster pace later?

Do you happen to know why that was? Was it somehow related to the liver issues?

And how long did it take for the liver issues to resolve?

Yep, the liver healed. It was biopsied last year and no more steatosis 😀. I think the slow loss at first was just my body adjusting to the medication. I'm 5'4". I was on the highest dose of the first medication, now I'm on a mid-level dose of the replacement.

Wow, that's amazing about your liver! I'm hoping for similar results. How long were you on the meds before your liver improved?

For those concerned about insulin resistance, I can share that I've seen really good improvements in my patients. One guy was on a ton of insulin, like 60-100 units daily, plus metformin. Now he's completely off the long-acting insulin. Everybody's different, of course, but GLP-1s can really help with insulin sensitivity.

That's great news about the insulin, @SemaGeek! I'm hoping for similar results. I'm on a bunch of meds, so getting off some would be amazing.

Seeing these stories is so inspiring! Someone else posted online about losing over 50 pounds in just a couple of months! It's amazing how quickly it can work for some people. Of course, everyone's journey is different, but it's still encouraging to see such positive results.

That's a fair point. 113 is pretty light for someone your height. You might want to talk to your doctor about what healthy looks like for your frame because dropping too low can bring its own problems.
