Okay, long post incoming, but it's worth it!
I've always been self-conscious about my weight, pretty much since childhood. When my dad died when I was a kid, I turned to food for comfort. I was a totally normal weight until middle school, then things changed. Got diagnosed with PCOS as a teen, and nothing I tried seemed to work for long. I did manage to get down to like 105 lbs or so for a while in college, but it was from starving myself, which obviously wasn't healthy. After that, the weight came back, plus more. Last year was rough – lost my job, other bad stuff happened, and I just spiraled into depression and binge eating. Got my dream job this past summer, and that's when the first pic was taken. It was a wake-up call. I felt terrible and didn't want to leave the house. But finally I had decent insurance again, so I looked into GLP-1 meds and got an appointment. Turns out I'm insulin resistant and borderline pre-diabetic. I was seriously worried, and my self-esteem was in the basement. Got approved for Mounjaro in February, and it's been a game-changer!
I'm down almost 60 lbs, my A1C is back in the normal range, and my PCOS symptoms are gone – my doc says it's basically in remission for now. Not quite at my goal weight yet, but hoping to get there by the end of the year. I can't believe how much this med has turned things around.
