Mounjaro > Ozempic?

So, I was taking Ozempic for about half a year, got up to 1 mg each week. I shed some pounds, but honestly, the nausea was awful. I felt sick all the time. Switched meds with my doc's help. Only been on this new stuff for a week, and the nausea is totally gone. No more stomach issues either. Feeling great so far.

Fingers crossed it keeps working for you! Ozempic gave me a terrible diverticulitis flare-up last year, so I had to stop. My doc suggested Mounjaro, and I've been on it for about 7 weeks now with no issues so far. Hoping you have the same luck with Mounjaro!

Just a heads up, rapid weight loss on these meds isn't healthy. Aim for no more than 2 pounds a week. When you say you didn't lose 'tons' on Ozempic, how much did you lose? You were probably losing the right amount. Glad the side effects are gone though! I'm on 1.5mg of Ozempic, and constipation is my only side effect, and it's manageable now.

Lucky you! I take Oz, but my insurance changed the rules, so I can't get Mounjaro. Actually, looks like I might not qualify for Oz either, but I'm not saying anything to anyone!

I'm starting my second week on Mounjaro after being on Ozempic for a year. I barely lost weight and still had cravings. Mounjaro feels different – fewer side effects and better control over cravings. I'm happy I switched; it seems to be working better.

My experience with Ozempic was a rollercoaster. I took it for years and lost weight at first, but I had nausea and weird burps with stomach acid. Then, the nausea and weight loss stopped. I felt normal again, and the weight came back. My endo put me on Mounjaro in June, and I'm almost at a weight I haven't seen in 2 decades. No side effects at all. I'm not hungry and don't think about food. I hope it keeps working! I'd love to lose another 30 lbs to get to my pre-baby weight (my kid's 24 now!).

I didn’t realize how tired the semaglutide made me until I switched to tirzepatide and then went back to semaglutide. Same with the nausea, which seemed to be related to my glucose levels dropping. I don't have those glucose drops on tirzepatide either.

I only lasted a few weeks on Ozempic before switching, and it was the best thing ever. Almost no side effects, but great weight loss. I can eat normally (within reason) and have a drink without feeling tired, nauseous, and awful. It was a total game-changer for me!

Thanks for sharing that story. I was originally prescribed Ozempic but held off because of the side effects I read about, and then my doc suggested Mounjaro, saying it has fewer side effects. I can't compare since I didn't take Oz, but it's good to know I made the right decision. Thanks!

A word of warning...I was only on Oz for 2 months because the side effects were too much. I switched to Zep for 5 months, and it was amazing…until last week. The side effects were even worse than Oz….and now I can't take anything. I’ve officially exhausted all GLP-1 options, and it's a mystery why! We thought it was gallbladder or pancreatitis, but all my bloodwork came back normal. It was so bad that I WILL NEVER use those meds again.

I went from 2mg Ozempic to 2.5 Mounjaro because I wasn’t losing much weight on Oz, even though my a1c was fine. It seems less effective at controlling cravings than Ozempic, but my digestion is much better. Only time will tell if it controls my a1c the same or better.

I had to switch because of Ozempic side effects, and I've had no issues since! It's been almost a year! 5 mg is my limit. I tried 7.5, and it brought back the Oz symptoms, so I'm sticking with 5.

Is it better at quieting food noise and hunger? Ozempic isn't really working for me. I just started at 1 mg.

I can def say it's stronger. I was on Sema for a year and then switched over and even the starting dose worked well. My bloodwork was also better on Tirz.

Statistically, people on tirzepatide have seen about 5-7% more weight loss than on semaglutide. And tirzepatide works on both GLP-1 and GIP hormones, while semaglutide only works on GLP-1. That's probably why it's more effective, especially for people who don't respond to semaglutide. But it's important to monitor side effects carefully, since they can be worse for some of us, as I mentioned earlier

Okay, so my doc wants me to switch from metformin to Ozempic. My A1C is good, and no issues with my heart or kidneys right now. The only thing is, Metformin gives me diarrhea. Anyone else experience this? Should I make the switch?

I just started Ozempic alongside my Metformin. Did some research before asking my doctor. Just sharing my experience, not giving medical advice, of course. Day one was fine. Day two, my appetite wasn't any different, but I could only eat half a salad for breakfast. By lunch, I had a little watermelon.
