Mounjaro since August - progress!

I was diagnosed with T2D in August. Family history is strong plus I have PCOS and had GD with both pregnancies (thankfully I passed the glucose test after each). When I was diagnosed, I immediately started my low-carb GD diet again and started Mounjaro. First month was 2.5mg, then 5mg since. I found a photo of me at my heaviest (around 210, I think), although I managed to get down to 200 by August. Now I'm at 155! I'm shocked at how quickly my body responded to Mounjaro. I'm not sure what my final goal weight is, but I plan to stay on Mounjaro long-term for blood sugar control and expect to lose a bit more. My last A1c was 4.8!

You're doing great! I was diagnosed with Type 2 in December, started insulin right away, but began Mounjaro at the end of January. I just increased to 5 mg last night. I'd be thrilled to see similar results!

Awesome! You should be very proud! I started around the same time, with 2.5 mg then 5 mg, and I'm at roughly the same weight as you now!

Congratulations!

You look great.

Diabetes control is the primary objective, which you have achieved. Weight loss is an added benefit.

Some people can lose weight and their diabetes goes into remission, as long as they maintain that weight loss, their diabetes is controlled. But people with a family history might always be diabetic regardless of their weight.

I've been on Mounjaro since March 2024 and didn't have a specific weight goal, but my doctor did, so he reduced my dosage when I reached a certain weight, and it's been going well so far. I was hoping for a loss of around 25 pounds and A1C improvement, and I achieved both. I ended up losing over 50 pounds, so I can't complain. I plan to stay on Mounjaro for the rest of my life because diabetes runs in my family, unless my health indicates otherwise. Good luck with continued success.

That's such a good way to look at it. I get so focused on the numbers on the scale that I forget about the bigger picture.

Awesome! What does your GD meal plan involve?
Basically, balanced meals with limited carbs. I focus on protein, non-starchy veggies, and healthy fats at each meal. I also try to pair carbs with protein and fat to slow down digestion. Honestly, it's just a healthy way to eat, even if you didn't have GD. I also did a lot of walking after meals. Interesting! There's a lot of ongoing research in that area. While it's not standard treatment, there are case studies suggesting potential benefits in reducing insulin dependence for some individuals with Type 1. Always best to consult with your endocrinologist to see if it could apply to your situation and to monitor appropriately!

Finally under 100kg feels real. Gained a lot in 2024, noticed health impacts in 2025. Doctors, blood tests, ultrasound — fatty liver. Started trying in July, changed my diet but stuck around 100kg. Over 4 weeks on this med now, 5 shots at 2.5mg, and I've hit double digits. Much easier than before.
