Mounjaro woes - feeling defeated :(

Hong Kong Yanpep International
If that were actually true, nobody would need something like mounjaro to begin with, cutting back on food would just handle it on its own. Genuinely can't stand that take. Maybe 10mg just isn't enough for certain bodies. Maybe someone's other hormones are off, driving metabolic adaptation. It's not always about eating less or logging calories wrong.

Still wrestling with this myself. Part of the problem is slipping back into old eating habits. Mounjaro really pushes back against that, especially those first four or five days post-shot. Trying to actually respect what Mounjaro seems to demand from my body. Yeah it feels like it's running the show, but honestly for my own benefit. Started experimenting with things that ease the indigestion. Some days certain things help, other days different ones do. Worth checking with your doctor too.

Hey there!!! Nine months into Mounjaro myself and I was exactly in your shoes when I started. Constant nausea, couldn't eat, didn't even have the energy for a short walk. Can't speak to what skipping or delaying a dose would do, wouldn't recommend it though. Things do turn around. Bring it up with your doctor and see what they suggest. Seconding what someone else already mentioned here. Get Zofran prescribed, makes a real difference. Protein matters a ton too. I feel noticeably better whenever I get enough of it during the day. If appetite's low, lean toward protein-heavy options over stuff that offers little. Still barely have an appetite myself, so mornings start with a protein coffee for me. I use Javvi coffee powder (10 grams protein) blended into a vanilla Premier Protein shake (30 grams), so that's already 40 grams before the day even really starts. Hoping you feel better soon!

You're definitely not alone in this. Some people genuinely lose all food noise or develop aversions to food entirely. That was never my experience though. Feeling less hungry within a calorie deficit definitely takes the edge off cravings and keeps portions down, but it still takes deliberate effort choosing not to eat. Put pizza or a great cake in front of me and I'll happily dig in. It happens on occasion. But I mostly avoid buying that stuff in the first place.

Honestly I don't chase after losing the food noise entirely either, because once that fades, then what? Feeling full faster is really the core mechanism behind Mounjaro. So it keeps me within my calorie range while, separately, I'm working on reining in cravings and pulling my own weight.

My approach is only bumping the dose once hunger genuinely returns strong enough that holding a deficit becomes impossible. Also what my doctor recommends. If I could offer one tip, don't climb too fast. Plenty of people make that mistake and burn through all the dose levels before reaching their target, then hit a plateau with nowhere left to go. It's a long process. Dropped around 20kg over six to six and a half months, and my very first 7.5mg dose arrives shortly. Manag

Hate to be the one to say it, but with Mounjaro's help, you're currently in a state of self-imposed starvation - and that's literally the mechanism behind losing so much in 8 months. Unfortunately this medication doesn't retrain your body to handle smaller portions - it just dampens appetite and cranks up the feeling of fullness. The real test shows up in the first couple weeks after you stop. Once the medication clears your system, hunger comes back hard, and that's when the actual challenge is staying mentally strong enough not to slide back into old patterns. I went through exactly that myself. Mounjaro hit my appetite in this unpredictable way, some days I could eat fine, other days I'd get nauseous after two bites, and it ended up causing fatigue and malnutrition. Ended up quitting after a handful of months. Felt okay at first, then the hunger came roaring back, like all that suppressed appetite had just been waiting to explode. There were full weeks where food was all I could think about, before my brain finally caught up and settled down. Hoping your experience turns out easier than mine. Everyone responds differently though, so who knows.

Sounds like Mounjaro's taking over your whole life. Does it have to play out that way? Eighteen months in myself, lost 6.5 stone. Eat whatever sounds good, just smaller portions. Still enjoy treats here and there, might just take a couple bites. Actually enjoy going out more now since my appetite's under control. What's driving you to be this strict around food? Are you running too high a dose, or cutting calories too aggressively?
