My friend thinks I'm 'cheating'?!?

So it's true! I shared my MJ secret with a buddy of mine, someone who's always been naturally skinny and, let's just say, not afraid to voice his opinions. I mentioned I was using something to help manage my weight. His reaction? Let's just say it was a bit much. I swear, for a second there, I thought the earth stopped spinning... My garden started to look sad. LOL. Anyway, I stepped on the scale this morning, and it's like I dropped another pound of negativity! Bring on the good vibes only!

It's amazing how some people get weird when you start losing weight, especially with a little injectable help. Some folks just try to bring everyone else down. I noticed who got uncomfortable as I slimmed down too.

If they haven’t struggled with weight like we have, they'll never understand why we're taking MJ. It's saving my sanity.

Sounds like a toxic person. My whole family is toxic, especially my mom. She's body-shamed me my whole life, even when I was thin. She even shamed me when I was pregnant! We don't talk much anymore. Congrats on ditching the negativity, you'll feel so much better!

I seriously don't get why people get upset. It's not like we're trying to go from a size 2 to a size 0. We're dealing with medically diagnosed obesity and related issues like high cholesterol and blood pressure. It's medicine prescribed by a doctor! Why wouldn't they be happy we're getting healthier?

Yep. People LOVE to gatekeep being thin. "But...but...you can only be thin if a) you were born that way, or b) you suffer to get there. How dare you take something that helps you get healthy without being miserable!"

I heard a similar thing from my neighbor the other day. I was outside doing some gardening and he complimented me on losing weight. I told him I was using medication to treat my obesity, and he literally said, "Isn’t that cheating?!?" I nearly choked! Like, seriously?

I'd ask him, "Aren't all medications cheat codes then?" People don't realize we still have to put in the work.

My patients act like the medication does all the work but they still need to track calories and exercise. It's a tool, not a magic wand.

I just say it's for managing my blood sugar (which it is) and leave it at that. Shuts down the conversation. Plus, it's true! Why do people feel entitled to comment on someone's medical choices anyway?

Exactly! It's like getting mad that someone uses glasses to see better.
