My health turnaround

Hey all, been reading for ages, finally posting.

Before starting this, my health was a mess. BP was sky high, nearly diabetic, snoring like a chainsaw, cholesterol through the roof, and pushing 300 lbs. I knew I was heavy, but didn't think it was a huge deal.

Then one day I bent over to tie my shoe and was gasping for air. That was it for me.

I tried the Kerotone diet and got down to about 270. Didn't last, and I was back up to 285 in a few weeks. My doc put me on Zepbound, and that really made a difference.

Now:
My blood pressure is great
No more diabetes
Sleep like a baby
Down from a size 3X to an XL
Waist went from 46 to 38
From 285 lbs down to 220 (aiming for 210)

Most of all, I'm so much more confident. I am finally liking what I see in the mirror.

Just wanted to share my story to inspire those who need it. It's possible to improve your health!

Cracking job, mate! I'm 2 months in, similar age and weight to you when you started. About 35lbs gone and hoping for another 50lbs. Want to like what I see and make my family proud too.

I'm struggling with how long this will take. How long 'til I hit my target but also how to stay there. The cravings are way less, but the constant calorie tracking and making healthy choices, plus feeling guilty about small treats with friends/family doesn't feel sustainable.

But one day at a time, and boosted by stories like yours. Update us on maintenance in a few months!

Fantastic. So glad you shared. Be so proud of yourself. It's hard, but worth it. So happy for you!

Thank you for sharing. My journey has just begun. 52M, 5'10", 240. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, type 2.

After a month of lifestyle changes, exercise, and a strict low-carb, low-sodium diet, my blood pressure has improved. My doctor wants me to lose 40 lbs and get under 200. I'm not on blood pressure meds, but I take Lipitor and Mounjaro. I'm on week 2, 2.5mg. I've noticed a smaller appetite, and no side effects so far. I'm expecting some at higher doses.

I'm continuing to work out every other day, and I’m down 5 lbs in a week and a half. I hope to see similar results to yours and others here.

Do you mind sharing your height? My son is autistic and I put him on this med in October. He's 20 years old, and was 315 lbs at 6'3". Now he's around 260 lbs. I'm wondering how much more he needs to lose.
To be clear, I am trying to teach him to listen to his body's signals with the help of the medication. He's learning what "full" feels like and how bad you feel if you overeat. He could barely move at his largest, was pre-diabetic, had sleep apnea, etc. I tried everything before this, and this medication is helping. You seemed similar physically, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks!

I know what you mean

My T2D is basically gone now, but I still feel like I need to track everything precisely. It's exhausting sometimes!

That's my goal, to be healthier for my kids! I was born in '87 and started a month ago. I have a family history of diabetes and heart problems. So far 24 lbs down and feeling rejuvenated. I feel like the old me again.

BP normalization with the weight loss is the compound benefit that shows up faster than most expect - GI adjustment takes 2-3 weeks to settle as the motility changes stabilize.

That comeback is perfect. Most people asking intrusive questions about your weight loss are not curious - they are uncomfortable. A line that turns the question back usually ends that dynamic faster than explaining yourself ever would.

Monitoring closely with that combo is smart - the interaction can hit harder than either alone. Baseline readings before and during are worth keeping.

BP, cholesterol, and weight all moving is the trifecta. Near 300 with those markers normalizing is what the medication is designed to do.
