My health turnaround

Starting from that baseline is hard - the health cascade once weight starts moving tends to be fast and noticeable.

the lipid panel as a conversation tool is smart - it takes the 'what are you on and why' question and grounds it in something objective and medical. most skeptics who see concrete before-and-after blood work go quiet pretty fast. leading with the outcome rather than the method is the right sequence for those conversations

Echoing what the other comment said, my own approval for the branded tirzepatide product took a solid ten-week wait.
My plan wouldn't cover it for prediabetes either, but weight loss coverage was available. Really comes down to your specific obesity classification and possibly other health markers, cholesterol and liver function among them.

I personally think of the fourth compound as more of a metabolic treatment. Started it following a cardiac scare tied to metabolic syndrome. Excess weight was really just the visible symptom of elevated cholesterol, borderline blood sugar, and rising blood pressure. Pretty confident I also had insulin resistance even though it was never formally tested. All of that's resolved now, so this medication genuinely treats my underlying metabolic condition. As a bonus, I've dropped over 100 lbs and move around so much easier.

Atorvastatin was my drug for 3+ years, and started on keto with good results, but keto sent my LDL through the roof, so I quit. High LDL is in my family on both parents sides, and 3 close relatives at minimum died young of heart trouble. Even after starting the glp my numbers stayed elevated, and my insurer refused Repatha, so my dr proposed ezetimibe in place of the statin, and I cant believe it worked. I truly believe its the combo of glp, ezetimibe and much better eating (zero fried food, lean proteins, vegetables). My doctor would try dropping the BP meds, but I stay on them. A year of maintenance now, and I dropped to only 5 mg, just enough to hush food noise, because stress makes me grab things I shouldnt. No side effects from any of the meds including the glp. These drugs saved me.

I raised my dose at top speed because at last a thing was working, so those 100 pounds were gone in roughly 9 months. Was slower the wiser path? Definitely. Four separate BP meds were part of my routine, and I tapered off all of them while testing my pressure many times daily. I developed orthostatic hypotension, and I'd go straight down after standing up unless I gripped something. My PCP, who knew about my compounded route, was quite sure a slower loss would have let my body adjust better. All good today, but the early stretch was frightening!
