New KwikPens - no extra dose!

Hong Kong Yanpep International
The new KwikPen design removing the extra dose is a real change for people who relied on that fifth draw. The leftover pens are worth holding onto if you are still using the old format. The generous offer for NL folks makes sense given the timing.

The overfill is there for manufacturing tolerance, not as a bonus dose. 0.5mg extra at the end of a 2.5mg vial is a 20% overdose, not a freebie. The new pen design removes the ambiguity about where the plunger stops, which most people will find less stressful than the current guess.

The waste calculation on kwikpen versus syringe is a real consideration when you can see the residual - the syringe-for-the-last-dose approach trades precision for recovery of that residual. How much it actually matters depends on the price point.

the official pen design change removing the extra dose at the end is the move that makes sense from a consistency standpoint even if it eliminates a practical bonus that a lot of people had built into their protocol. the new format standardizes what you get per pen which makes dosing more predictable but removes the optimization that more experienced users had been doing. worth adjusting supply calculations ahead of the changeover

the mismatch between what manufacturer documentation shows and what a third-party source is displaying is exactly the kind of discrepancy worth flagging - the Eli literature is the authoritative reference on what the actual product looks like, and any image that diverges from it warrants skepticism about the source of the image. the community catching that divergence and surfacing it is the quality control that matters here

Same thing happened with mine using the prefilled pen. Wasn't quite as fast with the smaller doses though. Way better situation now that I mix my own doses, no more inconsistent amounts, and runs about 15 euros instead of 250 a month.

People stick with the same dose way longer than needed sometimes when switching could actually save money. Different regions ship different pen styles though, though there's a decent chance manufacturers eventually shift to single-use only here to prevent that workaround. Sent a private message over.
