No appetite - force feed?

I thought appetite suppressants weren't for me since I eat due to boredom and cravings. I've been avoiding eating when not hungry. I just started sema, did my second dose. I feel a bit off this morn, but mostly just full. I still haven't touched the chocolates I bought! Should I force myself to eat regular food even without hunger? What do you think?

Not eating/drinking makes nausea worse. I was in the ER last week for dehydration! Now I always have a drink and eat several small meals/snacks daily.

I'm on 1 mg and the cravings are back. I was at 160, now 170. I don't overeat, just eat junk and skip exercise. I’m my worst enemy.

Get adequate nutrition, protein is key. Multivitamin is a good idea. Force-feed if you're deficient, but not if you're meeting your nutritional needs.

I ensure I'm meeting my caloric range. I track protein and fiber. A deficit now will build good habits for later, including when you stop Ozempic. Regular exercise and strength training help long-term.

Yes, keep eating. Focus on nutrient-dense foods, lots of protein/fiber. I like fruit with yogurt, protein shakes/bars, soups, etc. Drink lots of water/electrolytes. Your body burns muscle/fat fast, so keep protein high. Take multivitamins to avoid hair loss. Small portions regularly make me feel better.

When I went from .25 to .5 I had to force myself. My stomach hurt no matter what I ate. Nothing looked good and cooking was out of the question. After the first .5 dose, I went back to .25, but it didn't help much. I haven't dosed in two weeks, and I can cook/eat again. Seeing my doc next week for a plan. I dropped 20 pounds (200 to 180, 5’7, 63 y.o.), and my blood sugar is okay. Hopeful I can do it with diet/exercise. I can't see going back on it. It made me miserable.

I don’t say force it. I *choose* to eat a tiny, healthy portion. A handful of thawed shrimp with cocktail sauce. Pepper slices with hummus.

This is the meds working. You ate due to boredom/emotions, not hunger. Now the noise is quieter, you're feeling true hunger for the first time. Disorientation is normal. Your brain is relearning.

No, never *force* it. Some nights I skip dinner because I’m not hungry. Or I'll eat an apple or grapes or chips because I'm not perfect and feel full.

I've been on Ozempic about 2 months, just started 1mg, and don't have much appetite suppression. Sometimes I have one or two smaller meals. Otherwise, not much difference and little weight loss.

It's so eye-opening to realize how much our bodies are driven by hormones. My friend has no weight issues, and she can't believe I lost about 55 pounds on Mounjaro without really changing my eating habits. I just needed to be PERFECT before to lose weight. These drugs make you realize that obesity isn't a moral failing.

Stress seems to be messing things up! Anyone else experience that? I'm under a lot of pressure at work and the mindless cravings are coming back. I thought this stuff suppressed appetite, period. Is it less effective when you're stressed?

Absolutely. Cortisol spikes from stress interfere with the med's effectiveness. Look into ashwagandha for cortisol management. Magnesium glycinate before bed might help too, especially if stress affects your sleep.
