Not a fast loser? You're not alone!

I wanted to post this to encourage those of us who aren't seeing rapid weight loss or aren't considered 'super-responders' on these meds.

There have been times on this journey where I've felt discouraged because I wasn't shedding pounds quickly enough. I read about folks losing upwards of 80lbs in just over a year. That hasn't been my experience. I've lost about a pound and a half a week, but this is still the most consistent weight loss I've ever had in my life.

I took this photo today and I can finally see a significant change. I'm down 45lbs since early 2025, with another 85lbs to go!

Thanks for posting this, Gal. It's easy to get caught up in the feeling that the weight loss isn't happening quickly enough. Your journey is inspiring, and I'm glad you've kept at it!

When you reach your target weight, you'll be healthier because you're doing it slowly. Your skin will have time to adapt, and you'll be happy you chose this route.

As others have said, don't lose heart. Losing weight slowly and steadily gives your body and skin time to adjust. You'll feel great when you reach your goal! Kudos, you look fantastic!

Well done!

I'm on a similar path, 54 pounds down and almost a year on sema. I feel good about it, and it feels sustainable. I'm not ashamed of my progress at all.

That's been my experience too. I just celebrated my first year on Sema two days ago and have only lost 40 lbs. I am happy with that, but compared to those losing upwards of 65 lbs in 6 months, it feels slow. I'm on a high dose of Sema now and lost 5 lbs a couple weeks in a row, hoping for steady progress. I can tell I've lost inches; clothes are fitting better and sizes are decreasing. Whatever is happening inside may not be reflected on the scale, but I have two bags of clothes to donate!

That's awesome progress! I'm finding the slow and steady pace is helping me make real lifestyle changes.

I saw someone post about "ozempic face" the other day, and I realized I was feeling down because I didn't see a difference in the mirror, even with almost 30lbs gone. But comparing old pics made all the difference! Don't get discouraged if the scale is slow, the face gains are real!

I had a patient tell me she's been microdosing at 0.25mg for FIVE months! Lost about 35lbs, managing her PCOS symptoms, and getting regular cycles again for the first time ever. Goes to show that more isn't always better.
