Off GLP-1 since April - Maintaining okay!

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Been on Ozempic at the highest dose for almost a year, lost over 50 pounds but it's really slowed down, feels like it stopped working. Hungry all the time now. Probably need to cut calories more but that'd be under 1,200 a day and that's not realistic. Has anyone else hit this wall? Still got 50 pounds to lose and I'm discouraged.

The set point biology is real - the body's counter-regulation is active, not passive, which is why the 5-year regain statistics on traditional dieting look the way they do. Maintaining off the medication for months is genuinely beating those odds. The intentional small regain decision is unusual but valid if it's a conscious choice.

the gym rat and expert dieter but still overweight story is the one that finally makes the hormone and metabolism argument land. the OP maintaining after coming off in April actually supports the same point - the medication corrected something in the baseline that diet and gym could never touch on their own.

Month 3 on Reta and the energy drop from barely eating making lifting stop is the tradeoff that comes up. The timing with the loss slowing down at the same point is probably related - dropping calories too far tends to slow both metabolism and muscle maintenance. How has maintaining since April felt without the medication?

Basic health metrics are actually pretty useful context for the maintenance question you're raising. The age, height, weight, and activity data all factor into what 'a bit more weight' looks like from a health perspective vs an aesthetic one.

Weight tends to return once the underlying habits stop. Managed to hold onto a solid loss by keeping food and activity levels steady over time. So it's absolutely doable!

Really appreciate the info. Overhauled my whole diet a year and a half back and I definitely stay active. Medication is, and will remain, an absolute last resort for me, genuinely came here hoping to hear what others tried and preferred for that stubborn nighttime hunger noise that just won't quit.

Honestly just want to understand what makes this read as a 'drug dependent' post. Never asked about diet or exercise since I've pretty much got that handled already. Doing fine all day until nighttime rolls around and that awful hunger noise kicks back in. That's the whole ask. That's genuinely the entirety of what this thread was about because that's genuinely all I was asking about. What's your actual approach to losing weight? Please skip the glp1 suggestion, since apparently that just means focusing on diet and exercise and being drug dependent.

Thanks!

Actually agree with that. Know I dropped weight too quickly, but I'm a bit reckless by nature and enjoy taking risks that don't really need taking. Moderation's never been my strong suit.

When you mention exit strategy, guessing you're talking calorie intake and continuing the third compound? Aiming for 12% body fat, somewhat arbitrary number, and once I hit that on the diet side, I'll shift to maintenance calories and dial in macros properly.

Don't plan on stopping the third compound though, going to experiment and find my actual minimum effective amount instead, something I skipped during titration since I rushed through it, maybe try stretching doses out to every two weeks eventually.

Heard about therapeutic benefits from this drug class that have nothing to do with weight, things like cartilage protection, tendon tissue remodeling, and calming inflammation generally throughout the body.

Don't want to miss out on any of that.
