Off GLP-1s for months – still good!

Hi everyone! (35F) Back in 2014, I weighed about 230. Over time, I got down to 160, but then stalled. After like a dozen doses of the drug, I finally reached my goal of 135 around summertime last year, but I didn't have the money to continue.

I put on like 6 pounds during the holidays, but overall I was doing really well keeping my weight stable and eating healthy. Because I hit my goal, I decided to focus on something else, so I joined a gym to build muscle. I've gained another 4 pounds, putting me at 145, but it's all muscle! I feel amazing and can't wait for my vacation soon.

I feel like my body is working great now. I don't obsess about food constantly. I feel strong and happy. I really think the medication helped me get here.

I know not everyone has the same experience or can maintain their results after stopping. But I wanted to share my story so others who are thinking about a shorter program might have hope.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your story. I was planning on staying on my current meds for a while, but with the new rules about compounding pharmacies, I'm not sure I can now. It's good to hear some people can keep the weight off without it.

Thank you so much for sharing! I also reached my target and I've got just a couple doses left. I really want to keep the weight off, or replace it with muscle! You're giving me some hope!

Tell me your secrets! Most of us can't seem to quit the meds. Congrats! Great job! You should be an influencer or something. If you do that, let us know where to find you. The most I've gone is a couple weeks.

Hey @Georgie, that's really inspiring! I've been on a GLP-1 for almost a year, and I'm starting to think about what happens when I stop. I've lost about 50 pounds; I started around 180 and am now fluctuating between 125 and 130. My biggest fear is gaining it all back!

I read a post where someone was told to stop their meds prior to surgery... the poster was worried about starting back up. General consensus was to just start back up at the normal dosage, unless you've been off for a month, then you should titrate back up. Just FYI!

Over 100 to go, but if the appetite suppression sticks, the number will drop fast. With no food obsession and proper eating, reaching the goal shouldn't take more than half a year or so.

The goal is probably around 100 pounds down total. Six months in and I've lost 10 pounds at 7.5 mgs - not the fastest, but it's moving. Loose skin is likely, sure, but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept to get to a healthier weight.

About 65 pounds shed across three years and I felt fantastic in that outfit during that period. These days I can pull off almost any look - tons of energy, much improved health markers. Some lingering side effects remain, yet they're nothing compared to the challenges I had when heavier.
