One year on GLP-1...whoa!

Hi everyone! Female, age 60, 5'7". Started at 237 lbs, now I'm about 155. My original goal was 155, so nailed it!

I started this journey because of T2D, elevated blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I was taking several medications. I'd already begun to improve my nutrition, but I wasn't always consistent.

I'm currently taking a GLP-1 med with minimal initial adverse effects. I followed the recommended titration schedule, spending a month on each dose level. Now, I only inject every 10 or 11 days as I begin to reduce the dosage gradually. Eventually, I will titrate down and continue pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

I exercise about 4 or 5 times per week, and, as I mentioned, dietary modifications are beneficial. I'm fortunate because I haven't experienced significant adverse effects and now feel much more like myself. I'm incredibly grateful for this journey and will continue it as long as possible. My T2D is basically gone, at least my levels are normal. I'm also down to just a single blood pressure medication.

Stick with it, everyone; it's absolutely worth it!

That's amazing progress! Congrats on hitting your goals. I love that you emphasize a lifelong change. I started my journey 3 days ago after working out daily, but having problems with my eating. I'm on the lowest dose. I still enjoy eating, I was worried about losing that. I still enjoy food, I just don't eat as much.

Hi all aftwr a year as well im doing grear but- bloating has started now and stomach pains. Is it normal this late in the game??

I've heard from a few people that sometimes gut issues can pop up even after a long time. Maybe talk to your doctor about it? There might be something simple you can do.

I've been on a GLP-1 for about two years now, and the changes have been incredible. My body fat percentage dropped from around 38% to about 13%. I never thought I could achieve something like this. I feel like a different person, from hating my body to loving it. If I can do it, you can too!

I would love to hear more about your diet and what exercise you’re doing.
Sure! I try to focus on whole, unprocessed foods. Lots of veggies, lean protein, and complex carbs. I also try to limit added sugar and processed foods. For exercise, I like to do a mix of cardio and strength training. I usually walk or jog for about 30 minutes most days and lift weights 2-3 times a week.

Keeping that split going for so long really shows what commitment looks like. This has to rank among the most stunning single-year changes I've come across.
