One Year on this Med!

Wow, guys, today marks the one-year mark since my first injection! It's really been transformative. I only wanted to drop about 30 pounds, and I'm down around 27ish (been steady for the last 4 months). I'd like to lose another few pounds, but I'm finding it difficult and know I'll need to really buckle down and track everything closely. Honestly, I'm mostly happy where I am; my goals are more about body recomposition now. The best things? The absence of constant food thoughts and the decrease in cravings, especially for alcohol. I peaked at a 1mg dose and have been at 0.75mg every 10 days or so for the past couple of months.

A year is a huge milestone. That kind of consistency is what leads to real, sustainable changes in habits. I'm approaching that point myself, using a telehealth provider.

That's fantastic! I'm seeing similar results, and when I share my experience, people often compliment me on my hard work. They don't understand that the biggest effort was just choosing to begin the medication and paying for it.

Impressive! Those last few stubborn pounds can be tough. The appetite suppression isn't as effective as it was in the beginning. I had to measure my portions for a couple of weeks to identify an excess of 200 calories. Are you tracking your intake closely, or are you just estimating?

Thanks for the support everyone. Veggie_TBH I'm pretty much eyeballing now, but I think you're right. To drop those last few, I will have to be more precise and start tracking again. It's just a mental hurdle to get over!

It's interesting how different people respond. Some shed weight rapidly, while others see a gradual change. I saw someone mention they'd only lost 25lbs in 9 months, but they were still encouraged by their results. It highlights the importance of patience and not comparing yourself to others.

I feel this so much! It's strange getting praise for something that feels...easier? Like I didn't 'earn' it the way people expect.

Yeah, I agree RunFTW Sometimes I almost feel guilty when people congratulate me. It's definitely been an assist, but it's not like I single-handedly achieved this through sheer willpower!

I've been on this journey since December and am finally seeing a difference. It can be demotivating at first, but don't give up! Consistency is key!

One year in and transformative is the right word for it. The BP cascade from a 55 lb loss is one of the less-discussed outcomes - the medication does cascade-metabolic work beyond weight alone. Dizziness from hypotension can sneak up at that level of loss, worth monitoring going forward.

207 to 113 in 16 months is one of the better documented arcs on this med - the two years of hesitation before starting is the part that shows up most often in retrospect. Most people who've been through it say the main regret is time, not the decision itself.

One year and 27 lbs at steady state with the goals shifting from weight to health markers is the typical transition point - the remaining few pounds usually follow when focus moves from the number to the underlying metrics. The four months at plateau with energy and mobility improving tells the full story better than the scale.

60 lbs and A1C drop in 5 months is amazing! For the injection pain, rotating sites was the biggest factor for me - staying in the same spot bruises up over time. The thigh tends to hurt less for a lot of people compared to the abdomen too.
