I started Wegovy January 3rd last year, and it's hard to believe I'm already a year in and about 40 kgs lighter! (I'm female, 33, 5'6). It's been truly life-changing. I've always struggled with maintaining a calorie deficit, constantly battling cravings and feeling like I was failing. But Wegovy flipped a switch. It's like food lost its grip on me, making space in my brain for other things. I've been able to exercise consistently, explore new hobbies, and just live a healthier life overall. It's like I'm finally the person I always wanted to be. I'm working out because it feels good, I'm not reaching for alcohol every single day to deal with boredom, and I'm not obsessing over my next meal. So exciting!
Here are my biggest insights from the year:
* Prioritize healthy foods. Focus on protein, drink plenty of water, and mostly eat well. I've had very minimal side effects, even when I've had alcohol or junk food, and I think it's because of these healthy habits.
* Strive for progress, not perfection. I've tracked my calories from the start, but I'm not super strict. I've still had fast food occasionally, and I've still enjoyed celebrations with friends and family, including meals, wine, and cocktails!
* Track your weight, but don't forget measurements and photos. I measure myself monthly and take 'after' photos every 5 kg lost. Seeing those changes visually is so motivating!
I'm hoping to lose a few more kilos and get to 59 kg. Then I want to maintain for at least six months, letting my body adjust and hopefully build muscle while maintaining my exercise routine. I can't imagine stopping Wegovy entirely, but I'll try to lower my dose once I'm in maintenance. If anyone has any questions, ask away!
