The more the better. It's good that these meds are becoming more accessible to folks who don't like shots. Retatrutide is still the best, but this is a step forward.
Would love to see a comparison of this to orforglipron. At 25mg each day, they have to use a lot of GLP-1 to match the effects. It's dosed like Rybelsus, which makes me think it's just a bigger dose.
Quoting the article: "The pills haven’t been compared directly, but the Rybelsus averaged 14% weight loss over 64 weeks, while orforglipron showed 11% over 72 weeks. Wegovy injection showed 15% weight loss, and Zepbound showed 21%."
I agree, it's not the best drug, but it would have been a game changer 10 years ago. The lower price and no needles will bring in people who wouldn't consider the other drugs.
I'm planning to test orforglipron next year. Orals could be good for maintaining after hitting goals with injections. Also good for people who are just overweight, but injections will still be king.
I agree. Oral Wegovy or orforglipron might be good for maintenance, and I would pay $149 a month for life. But not $499 for Lilly Direct. I just hope the starter dose will be enough...
Hey FiberWine, the article says sema needed a friend to survive stomach acid. Maybe orforglipron too? Could people take baking soda to help it absorb? Seems too simple.
The diabetes version of oral sema isn't great. My patients get tummy pain. It doesn't curb appetite, but it helps with A1c. I'd take orfor over sema pills any day.
